Why are you losing weight?

Health reasons? Unhappy with your appearance? A combination of both or some other reason?
This was what I was thinking about... that and why I was gaining weight. I was sick of literally hating myself and what I saw in the mirror every day. And I wrote a blog post to get out that frustration. If anyone cares to check it out.

Im losing weight for me. I finally got to the point where I was so sick of looking in the mirror. I've been fat my entire life, as far back as I can remember. I want to feel good about how I look, I want to enjoy shopping for clothes, Im engaged but dagummit it'd be nice to get looks from other guys every once in a while. I want to FEEL better, look better. I dont want my kids to be embarrassed of me. Im 26 right now.. I dont want to enter my 30's still fat. That's when women are suppose to be in their prime! And that's exactly what I intend on doing. Plus it'll be nice to see my ex's eyes bug out lol0

All of the above! One of the main reasons I'm losing weight is because I was diagonosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome and needed to lose a good 100lbs. I was also very unhealthy, unhappy and had/have no confidence at all. I've lost almost 50lbs already, still working on the next 50lbs!0

I'm losing weight for several reasons. I'm an avid equestrian and I need to be more lean and healthy in order to feel good about competing. Another reason is my boyfriend and I have been talking about engagement and I don't want to be that woman who is rushing to lose the weight for the big day. I also just want to feel better about myself. I'm not happy when I'm overweight, simple as that! Another huge reason is I work in healthcare, and I don't believe i can really provide the best care if im not taking the best care of myself.0

I'd like to write "total vanity" I wish to be "chatted up" by guys again...but that's only part of it...it's good for my heart to lose the weight. :happy:0

For longevity, for my kids, and for my fledgling entertainment career.0

Mainly to get skinnier than my jerk-faced 'friend'-that-I-hate. She got herself knocked up so I am working with an advantage.
I am a bad person.0 -

Hehe... one of the sneaky reasons I want to which I didn't mention was that all my life my one cousin has ALWAYS been skinnier than me.... at a much more healthier weight. Then she went and got knocked up three times before she turned 20..... now I'm finally the same size, if not thinner than her. And boy does it keep me motivated.0 -
Vanity
....Aaaand to avoid diabetes, heart failure and cancer.0 -
Summer dresses!
That's seriously the only reason why.0 -
I believe that I am losing weight because I have reduced my caloric intake and have increased my activity level, but it could be disease or parasites.0

Morbid obesity is sort of it's own reason, isn't it? But then, this thread was probably not created with people like me in mind.0

I want to stop hating photos of myself, that's pretty much the alpha and omega of it for me. I am pretty happy, have a great relationship and am apparently very skilled in denial, so until I see photos I'm not that bothered about it. More than the scale and the mirror, I'll consider my goal achieved when I am no longer bothered by people posting photos of me on facebook.
Oh and also I couldn't bear the idea of being 200 pounds. That was my 'enough is enough'.0 -
because gaining weight is SO 19920

Because I don't wanna die at 40? :-D
Because I'm tired of my clothes being too tight?

Im not here to lose weight.
Im here to improve my fitness. I just happen to have lost a shed load of weight and am planning on continuing to improve my fitness until Im in that "OMFG!! How much weight have you lost??" conversation with that cheating ***** of an ex!!! :flowerforyou:
Until then, Im going to hang around with all you "losers-of-weight", if you dont mind. :laugh:0 -
because I'm fat!0

Health. Years of processed salty junk brought on a hemorrhagic stroke and diabetes. I began eating properly to reverse those issues and weight loss was a wonderful side effect.0

Everyday, I work as a paramedic practitioner, i see the results of an unhealthly life style and the impact being over weight is having on the population. four years ago I was diagnosised with type 2 diabetes. And having five lovely daughters decided it is time to stop preaching to others and sort my own life out. three years ago I weighted in at 26 stone, now at 20 stone 10 pounds, its been a long haul with plenty of ups and downs, but if you want to enjoy life you have to keep on going.0

So I can jog without dying, and look sexy =30

Health reason:
PCOS which makes healthy weight mandatory to have kids w.o. medication and to avoid (as possible) diabetes and so.
Because bellyfat is dangerous & make you look 12 months preggo.
Girlies reasons:
because I love to go shopping and I want short skirt and skinny jeans !!
and because I dream to be as skinny as my little sis0 -

Great great achievment on your weight loss ! congrats )))0 -
For my health, though being on thyroid hormone tablets seems to be making it alot easier this time round. (I've bern on them just under a week now)0

To gain some semblance of self confidence. To look nice. To shop in the regular clothes stores again.
To look good. oh i said that already....yeah well it's important0 -
To like myself again, be more confident & so I can wear my gorgeous skinny ***** clothes again (short skirts, skinny jeans, cute dresses).
Plus I'm a wee bit competitive, so being skinnier than my sister is also a motivation 8-)0 -

I also hate my photos. Even when I believe I'm looking fine, a photo from some celebration pops up and ruins my day. I look much better when I take photos in front of a mirror. When I see the other ones, I ask myself if that's really how other people see me and I feel terrible. It's my face, also, but my weight is the thing I can change.
I don't think I'm at a health risk judging from my height/weight, but since I'm very tall, I weigh a lot for a woman, and some people laugh when they hear the number. I also feel huge for a woman. For example, my waist is the size of a shorter girl's hips, in some cases bigger...
Shorter girls have told me that if only they had my height, they'd be super thin. It's as if I can't appreciate it and have the best out of it. By their logic, if they had my height, they'd be the same weight they are now, except taller, so they'd be perfect, while I have grown up this tall and still managed to mess it up.0
