Cardio that's easy on the legs?

I've recently began an 8 week running plan, and yesterday I went a little overboard. I was supposed to be walking for 3 minutes and running for 1 for 20 minutes. I ended up doing 60 minutes just because I was feeling great and wanted to push myself. Today, I am paying for it. My ankles and knees hurt. My legs are sore all over, but the pain is from me over doing it. I'm about 100lbs overweight, so I know the pain isn't abnormal. I'm just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for cardio I can switch up with running to give my legs a rest. I don't have access to a pool. :/ Any suggestions?

  • Elliptical trainer, rowing machine.

I have a bad ankle and low impact workouts help.

I would suggest strength training between your cardio days.

Cycling too either stationary bike or outside :-) xx
  • I am using a stationary bike with arm handles, so when legs and knees strain, I switch to the arms, then back to legs, etc. Most of body weight is supported with seat. Rowing machine sounds good too.

Be sure you are icing and take some Advil or the like for swelling. Get some really good stretching in several times a day. I'd do the elliptical or bike if you are at a gym.
