30 Day Shred while training for 5K?

I am running a 5K on 10/21 and another on 11/4. I have ran one before, and have been consistently running 30min. 2-4x a week since the beginning of September. I just started MFP last week and I really want to begin "30 day shred" to help with my weight loss goals. My question in this.... Should I wait to do 30DS until after the 5K's are over?? I don't want to be too sore to run, nor do I want to give up running the next 4 weeks because I have a goal time for the races. Is there a way to incorporate both, or will the 30DS results be best on their own, doing it each day?
I would love opinions or suggestions! Thanks in advance

You will absolutely be sore after your first day of 30 Day Shred! That said, though, I think the exercises in the Shred will help your run after you get past your soreness. If you really would like to start the Shred soon, I would recommend giving it a try now while you are still a couple of weeks away from your 5k and see how you feel. Continue you to run, and maybe do the Shred only a couple of times a week. if you are finding it is too much for you with your running, then you can cut the Shred until after you're done with the races. Have fun and good luck with the 5ks!0

I think that you should definitely keep running and you can incorporate the 30DS as well. Just stop 30DS a couple days before your race so you can rest your body some. There is no reason you cant do both. Just listen to your body. You should be just fine. Good luck with your races0

I'm doing this exact same thing. however, I'm only doing 30DS 2 days a week and then TRYING to run 3 days a week (sometimes it's only 2). I'm sore today, but not HORRIBLY sore. I think the past 4 months of running has helped me build up muscle and stamina so that I can adequately tackle 30ds!0

I'm doing C25K and 30DS at the same time. I plan to alternate days. After my first 30DS (Friday) I was too sore to run or 30DS on Sat, Sun. Mon I could have pushed through, but weather was bad so I took another day off. Yesterday I completed week 3 day 1 successfully. Today I will 30DS again.
I'm thinking try it and see. You will be real sore at first, but I think it will build your strength and endurance. If you are still getting sore a week before race day, take a break from 30DS.
Good Luck!!!0
