Don't cut out the things you really love. You may however have to severely limit them for a while and strictly control the situations that you have them in if you are like me and have weak self control. I can't stop eating chocolate so I now only buy as much as I want to eat in one sitting - no more family sized blocks for me.
Cut out the unhealthy things you can live without and everything else in moderation. Doing this makes you realise the difference between what you actually really want and what you eat just because you can0 -
everything is okay in moderation, but foods you'd probably be better off with very little of are fried foods, frozen tv dinners w/bucketloads of sodium (could cause you to retain water), super processed foods w/ingredients that sound like they were made in a laboratory, or super sugary goods.
You can always find healthier alternatives to things though such as:
--get a pita, natural tomato sauce, low fat cheese or feta or something, add veggies, bake & you have a healthy pizza
--lower-cal brownies: get brownie mix & substitute applesauce for oil (they come out super delicious; i made $2 when i was giving them out for free haha)
--exchange refined/white grains for whole grains (white for brown rice, white bread for whole grain or Ezekiel bread, etc.)
--eat chicken breast w/o the skin rather than with (a lot of fat is right under the skin)
--make more meals at home, so you know what's going in them
--lara, kind, luna, or clif bar instead of a candy bar
--dark chocolate instead of a chocolate bar
--arctic zero as a substitute for ice cream
Just remember, a piece of chocolate cake won't hurt every now & then. Just don't indulge too much or too often (a whole cake a day will definitely hinder your progress...lol) ^_^0 -
Thanks to all who gave insightful answers.0

I don't have any no-no foods. I have foods I can only eat every now and then and I have foods that I reaaly control the portion size. If you don't allow yourself the foods you really love but are bad for you, when you do finally give in and eat it, your wil definitely eat to much.

There's nothing on my never, never, never list!
Except things that were already there. Like, I dunno, fish eyes or something.0 -
I don't eat the things I don't find tasty.0

So tell me what is your #1 no no's for food.
No no "no no's"0 -
For me, it's less about what foods are a definite "NO" and more about reminding myself how certain things make me feel after I eat them. I still indulge in cookies and pizza and chocolate and ice cream, etc., etc., but the "cleaner" my diet gets (and I use "diet" in the "a way a person eats" meaning, not the "restricted intake" meaning), the more I'm able to recognize how poorly some foods make me feel. So while those incredible, so-fresh-they're-still-warm donuts from the local bakery that people keep bringing into work are still tempting, they're much less so because I know how icky I feel after eating them, no matter how heavenly they smell. So I guess you could call those my "NO" foods.
Then again, I'm not a great example, because I still totally sugar binge on occasion, particularly the closer I get to goal. :-(0
