Hello Florida residents, or anyone who has visited Florida. My husband and I are taking a trip down to Orlando in 2 weeks (our 2nd time down to Disney) and we want to take one day out of our really busy schedule to go to a beach. I prefer to go to the Gulf of Mexico side, to see "clear water and white sand." I heard Siesta Key is one of the most popular and beautiful beaches down there, but also heard good things about Clearwater as well. Since we are coming from Orlando, I would like to make the one way trip under 3 hours. We also don't like too many crowds and we like to sight see (see other things like museums, aquariums, shops, etc) That is why I thought Siesta Key would be perfect for us. Any advice on a beach to go visit or have any experience from Siesta Key Beach? Thanks :)

Siesta is on the gulf side. Clear water isn't, it's in a peninsula.

If you want really clear waters, check out Jupiter Island. best snorkeling you can ask for with out heading south. Actually, it's better than most beaches, even south of Miami.
    It's 2.5 hours away.
