Experienced People Please Help

I honestly didn't think I was being at all rude or cheeky... I was pointing out my offended feelings in a very calm and direct manner, I thought...
1) You weren't.
2) You were.
3) One thing I've noticed, since I joined the message boards on MyFitnessPal, is that many of the commentors seem to think that because something worked for *them personally* (or for someone they know), it will work equally well for everyone. Hence, the simplistic admonitions (which usually includes the word "just") and the platitudes like, "If I can do it, you can do it!"
Keep in mind that MOST of the people who make these comments are not physicians, psychologists, scientists, exercise physiologists, dieticians, or other qualified health professionals. They are generally well-meaning amateurs who are relating their personal experiences and extrapolating them into universal truths.
Please don't feel that you owe them an explanation of things that you find painful to discuss.0 -
Only surgery will rid the excess skin. I cannot relate to the entire body, but my boobs look LITERALLY like cow utters, I am getting them removed and lifted, as I have waited forever and the skin is not snapping back. Going from a D to an A was a shock to my flappers (what I call the skin sacs that are my boobs).0

I have only just started with Mfp and I have a lot to lose. I think, if I get near my goal weight, I will have the same problem with my skin. In fact, I am worried I will hate my body with bits of extra skin MORE than I hate my fat body! Having said that, seeing your picture has actually reassured me because your tummy definitely looks better by a million times than my tummy, and your back, sides, arms, above your tummy and bottom look GREAT. I'm thinking I can live with one imperfection better than my whole body staying like a white wobbly jelly! I know your tummy must upset you or you wouldn't have posted, but honestly honestly, while that little bit of you is upsetting, the rest of you looks super good and I bet you look and feel marvellous compared to when you were bigger! Well done on your weight loss. I hope ican do as well.0

I went from a size 16+ to a size 4/6 and had really saggy breasts, flabby stomach and flabby thighs. Its been 14-15 years now and my stomach looks so much better. Hiring a personal trainer really helped. I do a lot of core and 100 crunches almost every night and while my stomach will never look awesome it looks good enough to wear a two piece bathing suit. I have a picture on my profile of me in a bikini. I don't know how to post pictures
My breasts I fixed with implants, which was a great personal decision for me. The thighs are still big but at least they are firm now. I talked to the cosmetic surgeon about lipo and a tummy tuck for stomach/thighs but neither of those things would have worked in my case. Talking to a surgeon about skin removal may be an option as well.
I hope this helps. :flowerforyou:
I forgot to congratulate you on your weight loss! Losing that much weight ... what an accomplishment.
And I read the previous posts and I didn't think you were rude or lashed out. People who do not have or are not familiar with mental illness are often clueless and can stay stupid things. Like relating panic attacks to shyness or telling an addict to just say no. I like that you were open upfront, if people were more open about mental illness, eating disorders, addiction, etc. there wouldn't be such a stigma attached to these things. Just my 2 cents! Congratulations again!0 -
Thank you Annie. It's good to know I wasn't being horrid. My interactions are not very good with people so I do sometimes come across wrong, and I do worry about it.
Thanks for your words. They helped.
Ladimang, I have udders too. Well, sort of, they're kind of deflated at the outer edges? And when I bend down without a bra, they're... well, they're pendulous. I think that is not fixable but perhaps my tummy and stuff are, as I know there's still fat there. And that can go, eventually, if I work hard, I think.
Voliver, I do not regret the loss at all. Any day I would rather be droopy and lumpy than the way I was. My tummy flap used to be down about 1/3 the way of my thigh! I regret not strength training though it all, though, because I am sure my body would look better now. You have the benefit of knowledge and resources early on; so I think you will look amazing when you are done. And I thank you for those lovely things you said. That helped as well.
Princess, you look amazing. I looked at your pictures, your body is lovely. I really don't think I can handle surgery... But if it comes down to mental anguish through looks, I will either have to learn to accept what I have or suck it up and learn to deal with surgery. Either way I have a lot of thinking and a lot of work to do.
And.. thank you.0
