Apparently the cilantro tasting like soap thing is genetic. I'm in the soap family too.

Cool. I hate it raw. Every Vietnamese restaurant in town buries every entree in it. >:P0 -

I always get Pho....and i ask for it without cilantro...but i can still taste it on the other veggies bc they use the same chopping board!0 -
Stealer! Ha ha. I could put cilantro on every dish, it equals the lettuce on my sandwich. Good post!0

I actually had to google to find out what it is. We call it coriander on the other side of the pond!
I love the stuff, in soups and especially in Chinese hot pot. Yum!0 -

Cilantro pesto!
1 1/2 C fresh cilantro
1/3 C fresh parsley
1/4 C parmesan cheese
2 cloves garlic
3 T walnuts
1 T olive oil
1 T lemon juice
salt and pepper to taste.
mix well in food processor
Stir pesto in hot fettuccine and top with grilled salmon. Yummy! Low in cals, fat and carbs.0 -
I am SO in the CILANTRO!>:(YUCK! camp! Any dish or sauce or salad that this WEED goes into is completely flavored and ruined by this awful stuff! I know people that absolutely love it. OP, you are the only one I've "talked to" who seems to feel as strongly as I do. Now I know I am not alone!0

I need to start the onion-- yuck thread. :P I Hate onions!0

^^This. I hate the stuff with a passion. It is probably one of the most horrid tastes I can imagine. It tastes and smells offensive. I really don't consider it food. :noway:0 -
I don't belong here... mmmm cilantro0
-
Erk Coriander!! Hate it with a passion. I hate how every modern cooking program ends each recipe with a huge handful of coriander. No!!0
-
I'm very fond of it but I have a friend that says it tastes like a petroleum product to him. If it tasted like that to me I'd hate it too!0
-
How the hell do you make Pico de Gallo with out cilantro?0

I LOVE cilantro. I love it so much I ask for extra of it on things. I really like roast beef, swiss cheese and cilantro sammiches. Mmmm.
I'll even eat it raw.0 -
Yay!!! My peeps!! I'm home. I HAAATTTEEE cilantro. I really believe I have an allergy to it. When I smell it, my throat gets itchy.0

Hubby and I grow a huge veggie garden. One year, we decided to make homemade salsa and can it. Followed the recipe to a T. Yuck..something was really OFF. Yep..turned out, it was the cilantro. Ewwww. Gave away all the jars we made.
Now i leave it out of our salsa and it's fabulous.0 -
i love the stuff but have a good friend who is like you. for him it seems like its almost on a visceral level. maybe its a genetic thing?0
