I have my first job interview in 2 hours for ****'s Sporting Goods. It's nothing big, but does anybody want to give me some 'last minute' advice?

Hahahaha, oh MFP. Thank you for censoring.

I used to screen applicants for my employer. Here's my tips - be nice to the assistant or secretary or whomever you meet when you show up. They will remember you and a word for or against you from that person goes a long way.

Dress well. For D*ck's Sporting Goods - at least khakis and a nice shirt. You should look similar to how you would at work. No crazy fingernail polish colors and no outrageous jewelry.

Be 10 minutes early. Any earlier and you look too eager. Any later and it looks like you are rushing.

Be confident and be yourself! HR/hiring personnel can always tell when someone is nervous, and that's ok. A little nervousness is fine. But they can also tell when you are pretending to be someone you aren't or are "putting on airs." And they will see right through that.

When they ask you about your weaknesses, don't say "I like big butts and I cannot lie."

    You're welcome.

    Hey now...

    You other brothers can't deny.

To OP, good luck. The best way to get better at job interviews is to have more of them. However, if things go as you hope, you won't get much practice at them.

Don't be scared. Be confident. Don't wear sloppy clothes. Be personable. This is a retail job right? Well, in retail you need to be an outgoing people person. Be friendly but not TOO friendly. Be respectful. Should be obvious but lots of people forget this. Manners go a LONG way. Excuse me. I'm sorry. Thank you. These three words can save your life. ;)
