It's the Halloween/Samhain season. We have fresh pumpkins at the market. YAY!
Cant wait to make some roasted seeds!

I would like to make different this year... besides the good ol' olive oil/vegetable oil and salt...

Any secret ingredients here? Throw me your special touch!

I love pumpkins seeds but I've never roasted them myself. I hope you get lots of replies.

I'd love a recipe that doesn't involve salt. I miss home made pumpkin seeds; they were the only reason to buy a pumpkin!

    i always burn them!
  • :) We're pretty much oil/salt folks, but you could try things like dill, or garlic powder (or, really any powdered spice). They're also good with brown sugar and cinnamon, or honey and a bit of salt (salty and sweet - yummy).

    :)
  • I can't remember what the exact recipe was, but you can use brown sugar and pumpkin pie spices and make sweet ones. I made them a few years ago and they were awesome!

    I love pumpkin seeds.

Garlic salt and cayenne pepper! Deliciously spicy!

Rosemary and Olive Oil with a bit of sea salt

BBQ flavored--just mix up a BBQ dry rub and toss a little onto the seeds and bake

I would like to know why the pepitas I buy are so much easier to eat and digest than the ones I make. My pumkins seeds are too chewy. Any ideas?

I think you can fry them in a pan before.. not sure.. I overheard that somewhere.. will need confirmation...

Just curious, do you buy shelled or unshelled? And when you make them, do you bother to unshell them?

Just wondering how others eat them. I personally leave them in the shell.

I think you are talking about sunflower seeds. Pepitas or pumpkin seeds are found in the middle of a pumkin. I clean off the stringy goop and then bake them. But maybe I will try frying them next time.
    Thank you Raven
