Ways to 'spice' up water

Some days I just can't seem to get my water in. It's just not ...good.

For anyone that flavors their water in any way, what do you use??

You don't have to get your water from pure water.

    Juice, tea, coffee, etc

I use all kinds of Crystal Light, name brand and generic. You can also add a little lemon juice to your water.

True Lemon or True Lime are my go-tos. Also seltzer instead of plain water. Seltzer with True Lemon is dabomb.

I got one of those sodastream things a couple of weeks ago as a gift. I don't like any of the flavorings, but do love the carbonated water with a packet of True Lemon. I'm consistently drinking a liter or more of flavored seltzer a day, coupled with a couple of cups of coffee and a couple more of tea.
  • I like to add the packets of powdered True Lemon or True Orange in mine. They're really convenient for me to carry in my purse.

I've tried the True Lemon and really liked it. I didn't know there were other kinds as well. I'll have to look for those.

Thanks for all the ideas so far.

I like the lipton black tea and honey packs they are made for 16 oz bottles and are 10 calories. They dont have the weird after taste either.

Fruit is great for adding a little pizzaz to plain water. Frozen berries are like flavored ice cubes. A slice of cucumber is nice, too.

Green and herbal teas are a nice alternative, too. Many of them are yummy hot or over ice.

    Mio is my best friend.
  • Crystal light is beyond delicious! I fell in love with the Green tea raspberry one, you should definitely try it :D
  • Orange slices.
  • Water always tastes great with scotch.

Seriously, I use fresh lemon wedges in mine. Only 3 calories for a quarter wedge.
  • great value brand fruit punch. it's cheap, delicious and doesn't have that weird 'artificial' after taste. i typically don't like those shake-em-up things you put in water but that fruit punch is kickin'. lol.

I'm not a big fan of water, but ice really helps. The colder my water is, the better. Also, I usually drink a glass of water shortly after brushing my teeth. It's the best way for me to get to my water goal. It's nice and minty.
  • crystal lite margaritas are delicious!!

I like to cut strawberries or cucumber ( I know but try it), into a jug of cold water.
Also fresh mint floating in it makes it delicious! Try it overnight for max impact.

I use the Lipton Tea & Honey packets. Mango/Pineapple & Apricot/Peach are my favorites.
  • It's not meant to be "good." Its purpose is to hydrate your body. Chug the water and move on with your day.

To give it some spice add some oregano or black pepper. Or of you're feeling adventurous maybe some garlic powder, it helps keep Dracula away.

Or you can be normal and cut grapes and strawberries and put it in your water.

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, wrong wrong, wrong.

Juice tea and coffee all have added sugars, chemicals, additives and preservatives that require water to flush out of your body, so if you don't drink much water anyways, it would actually dehydrate you. Not to mention adding completely superfluous calories that could be better put to use in healthy filling foods that actually do credit to your body. Don't listen to this person. If you absolutely HAVE to flavor your water (though I don't know why anyone would, water has no flavor and therefore makes no sense to me to claim it is distasteful) I would stick with lemon, lime or orange slices, or maybe a few frozen strawberries or raspberries.

But in the long run I think you would do your body and your fitness/weight loss journey the most good to eventually train yourself to enjoy straight water, because you won't always find yourself in a position where you have the option to pamper yourself with spruced up water. Good luck!

Juice is full of sugars though, and coffee is dehydrating.

    That is false.

Preach that gospel, sistah! Black cherry is the best!
  • I take a quarter cup of lite cranberry juice and the rest water, about 12-16 ounces. the cranberry juice adds flavor-so much easier to chug the water down.

or squeeze quarter of a lemon in 16 ounces of water.
  • Thats whay my biology teacher told me too.
  • I use generic Mio ... compared the flavors of Mio versions with the generics and they taste the same, but the generic is much cheaper!

I brew what feels like buckets of Chinese green tea. I have it in the fridge, I put it in my to go cup and always have it with me. I am also very lucky to actually love water...but adding things to water is fine. This is all a process, if you are replacing a mocha with a flavored water, a can of soda for a juice that is an amazing positive step. Mine is not to judge your journey, just try to make better choices one choice at a time...
