Planks vs Push-up/crunches.

So, I'm sure some of you know what planks are, but for those who do not: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dz0oFaVGuh4

So what do you think? Planks or sit-ups. I have tried planks over the last two weeks, and I have to say you do feel the crunch and burn, but is it truly better than the traditional way?

i took a boot camp with alot of circuit training and we did alot of both. though for abs we used mostly crunches, we did alot of planks for bum, love handles (and core as well obviously) but idk, we were all women so you probably dont have the same problem areas.

I actually do both. I do the planks after the sit-ups. I was also in the military, and I can't just stop doing the work outs I was accustomed to.

In planks I'm sure you know you can also bring one knee up to your triceps on the same side and also cross underneath to the opposite arm for a real crunch time. We do these moves in Yoga but they have a name you can't pronounce!
