I am Kimberly Dawn. But I go by Kim of course. Tried going by Kimberly but everyone always shortens it anyway so I gave up.
That's funny cuz when I was younger my family wanted me to be Kimberly and I was like, no it's KIM, not Kimberly, not Kimmie...KIM. Now I have no problem being called any form of my name, but mostly go by Kim...some of my friends call me Kiki too.

Since my initials are K.D. i tried going by Kadie but it never worked. My grandmother calls me Kimbo. Other than that, I'm Kim.
  • My real honest name is Gilbert. No, not that lame-O from revenge of the nerds,,, he's a distant relative.

Thank god for CSI,,, the name "Gil" has some pahache nowadays. Almost makes up for the teasing in grade school.

Everyone calls my dad "Gil" because it is a shortened version of my maiden name - Gilchrist.

I have some Gilchrists in my family! Cousins actually, in PA.

I don't have any family in PA that I know of, we are all originally from Colorado and Wyoming.

This is a fun thread! I like learning what made everyone decide on their username. My name is Jessica. Pressica was a nick name from school because my teacher accidently messed up saying my full name and it stuck.

    Holly

    Nice name!

I love the name Holly. Holly and Molly- pretty names. :)

Thanks! I have that name bc my mom was due on Dec 24th, but I was late. I might have been trying to avoid being a Christmas baby, didn't want to be a Holly. Turns out I was born Jan 6th. Guess what, Jan 6 is still Christmas Eve according to the old calendar! Part of my family is Orthodox and Byzentine, so she decided I was meant to be a Holly. I tried and failed, lol. But I never got double presents:sad:

I've always wondered how Winter (especilly so close to Christmas) babies and kids deal with it. Do most get double presents or jipped? Our anniversary is a couple days after Val Day and we always celebrate both together. But I guess that's not the same thing?

My daughter's birthday is January 16, and her party has always been her present, because it's so close to Christmas. She wants to have a 15 1/2 birthday this summer. I think she feels jipped. lol

My b-day is Jan 16 Too... I never got jipped, and still don't... it's 2 weeks after X-mas... that is plenty of time, to get my a b-day present as well......Go CAPPY's!!!!

When I was in high school I played the drums in marching band (DORK, I know...and loved it) and they all called me Mel B.

Hey! I was in the band too and loved it!!! Clarinet for me.

    -beck

 Another band dork here. Played flute & piccolo in band. Clarinet and piano now, too. And most recently, I acquired my pride and joy -- oh yes -- the piano ACCORDION! I pretty much dare anyone to try to out dork me.

    God, I'm so lame.

Greetings from another band geek. I played flute and piccolo in marching band and symphonic band, was drum major my senior year, and played oboe in concert band. Glad to know I'm not the only band geek out there. I still find myself when running, having to start on my left foot when counting my breathing. :embarassed:
  • Thanks for answering my question about winter birthdays. I'm sorry some of you get jipped...totally unfair! Yeah the 2 occasions are right next to eachother, but that means the family has all year to prepare!

not lame!! There's this Irish rock band: Jackdaw. the lead singer plays accordion... in a kilt... he is the sexiest, skirt wearing accordion player I've ever seen, and after seeing them play I will never think of accordions as geeky again!
