Many times, we may have a great day as far as eating healthy, getting in our exercise, right up through dinner. But then the after-dinner munchies start to happen. We sit in front of the TV or we get a snack for our kids and we realize that we are eating potato chips, ice cream, chocolate bar, when in reality we didn't even really want it.

That is what this thread is about. For some of us, we make a cut off time that may vary from day to day and decide not to eat anything past that time at all (usually about 2 hours before bed). For other, we may make a resolve to simply not put anything processed in our mouths past that given time and keep everything natural.

Whichever way you do it, please come join us and encourage us and be motivated to keep your day healthy even past dinnertime.

WELCOME ANY NEWBIES, welcome back us oldie but goodies.

I thought I posted my progress for last night, but it must have been in my dreams. Last night was successful. I got an evening workout, shower, and dinner. For some weird reason, I woke up in the morning feelings restless and tired but I think it was because I worked out too late in the evening.

Tonight, I am eating dinner early because I am going to watch a body competition. I do plan to eat some cottage cheese later, mainly for the purpose of eating over 1200 calories. Today was a day of light eating but healthy snacking and I have a lot of calories remaining. I'm going to make my cut off NLT than 9, because I know it will be a long evening. Happy Tuesday to all!

zaza - sorry to hear about your wrist. Ouch. And yet we live in a computer world. Hope you feel better soon. Keep up the great job.

teetee - good job on your success. so you are even dreaming about us huh?

Dewdrop - Did you leave me because I disappeared for a few days? Please forgive me and come back!

 I haven't been on here in a while and haven't been counting my calories so trying to get back on track my weighin day is tomorrow so I will see what happens :ohwell: I can't do anything about the past, so I will start over today.

Dewdrop: Only dreaming about the success of my lifestyle changes! At least I know I don't dream about late night snacking.

Last night body competition was great! I really enjoyed myself and even felt the slight bit tempted to enter into the next one if I am still out here. We'll see. Tonight for dinner was something that I only had to back, and it was not the best, but it filled me up and was below my calories. I won't be buying that again.

I keep losing track of my numbers, but it's been positive for a while.

I'm good for 3 days. It's a bit difficult since I'm at my daughters' house 3 days this week. She's a great cook. How that happened I don't know. It's probably because she follows receipes exactly and doesn't burn things. Not like her mother in this reqard. Anyway, it's great but I'm getting worn out with my grandkids - a 5yr old and 8 mo. twins. It's crazy!!! Gotta go:happy:

Oops, my name's been mentioned too many time, I'd better show up . Teetee, I owe you an answer: the night I had eaten healthy, but considered it as a "bad" night: I did eat at least 1h before going to bed, so I guess I was being too harsh on myself. As Zaza said (and I 100% agree) in another thread: this only works if one is reasonable.

I'll try to keep my confessions short  and only post my numbers. So far 0 . My cut-off will remain 9 o'clock (but I'm free to eat sooner, when this works ).

Thanks for caling my name, pals :flowerforyou: and good luck with sticking to this new habbit .

    Hello There,

I too suffer from late night snacking! I have found that I am left with all these calories after working out and feel compelled to eat them all before I go to bed. So if I am going to snack which I still do, I make it something healthier than what I use to eat. Instead of chips & candy, I know eat raw almonds (about 160 calories for 24 nuts) which are very good for you and oatmeal bars which are only 90 calories.

    Take care, Hawkeye01

I am also a snacker in the evening, once I get the kids to bed, around 830-9. But what I have started to snack on is an apple slice up and a 35 cal yogurt. The apple can last at least 30 mins taking bites of the slices here and there. At least now I am having a healthy snack. I used to have popcorn every night, not good for the sodium intake, now if I have popcorn, I can't get that dry taste out of my mouth from all the salt. But I can't eat popcorn without the salt, just not the same.

WOOHOO, multiple posts. Awesome. You guys are doing great.

For me third out of seven. I'm also going to use this thread to post how staying within my calorie range, as I usually tank on that at some point during the week. So far, I'm 3/7 for that one too. Already got today planned out, right up to my cutoff time at 7:30, so here is to success :drinker:

Well my Nephew was able to go to school today his fever broke. SO today I am going to head off to the gym to get back on track. Did good on my calories yesterday and played on the WII with him for about a hour that is a workout never really played it before so didn't realize how tired you get. He got it for Christmas guess I should have tried it before. I don't know if this will help you but it helps me I seem to have cravings every night so I broke up a chocolate candybar into small peices and put them in the freezer I drink an ice cold glass of water then put a peice of chocolate in my mouth and let it melt takes longer to melt with your mouth cold.

    4 days so far

Except I keep going over my calories by a little bit. I'm losing weight ok but it's hard to guess how many calories something is until it's eaten. Do you guys ever enter something and if it;s too much then decide not to eat it and subtract it back off of your food?

so far a successful week/month. 4/7 nights of cutoff at 7:30. Also 4/7 of staying within my calories. Now for the big challenge. The weekend. I am determined to not only stop eating by my cutoff (9 p.m. two out of the three nights - not sure which is which yet), but I am going to eat within my calories (no excuses of going over), and make sure I log in (which I usually don't do by Saturday afternoon).

    Have a successful weekend everyone!

Rosemary, I read of people planning their days ahead and lgging in everything in advance. I haven't yet done it - I prefer to be spontaneuous and free .

Something I did for myself this week was tentatively plan out my day/week foodwise. That way I could see in front of me how many calories I was eating within each timeframe (I have it broken down in 3 hour intervals). It has helped me because even if I don't eat when I had put in, I take into consideration only eating a portion with those calories allotted so I can enjoy the other things I might have planned. It has really made me evaluate my portions and actually enjoy what I'm eating. Also it has helped me not eat all my calories so early that I end up overeating at dinner.

I'm still battling calories, but at least I'm avoiding them completely after my cut-off time. So far, I've made it through 4 nights! The week-end and next week will be a challenge since my son will be home from college and my schedule changes.
Good luck everyone getting though the week-end.

Have you tried the same with grapes? I learnt that here on MFP and lulabelle reminded me of it, so I tried it myself. Well, they don't melt like chocolate, but you can have more then 1 "piece" :). It almost feels like eating an ice cream .

Yes I have tried freezing grapes it works if I just want to snack but don't help with the chocolate cravings.

Hey guys! I have this bad tendency to miss out on my weekend with my post. I was good for both yesterday and today. Though, eating wise, was really a cheat day and with it being my TOM too, I finished off my GS cookies for the chocolate fix. Tomorrow is back on track with my eating, logging, and counting.

I hope everyone enjoys there weekend!

Instead of clicking reply, click the quote, and it will put the original post before you start to type. Once you post your reply, the quote will appear in blue.

Five nights in this week so far.

Thanks for the thoughts on planning total calories Dewdrop and lulabelle. Does it kind of even out in the end if some days your under your calories?

Think I'll try the frozen grapes just to keep them from going bad.
