I was eating healthy and exercising for a year and got my body right where I wanted it.
Well, then I moved to another state and I had some shoulder injuries so it all basically went to shi-
I've gained 20lbs but yesterday I started back on the right track. I still can't work out like I used to due to the shoulder, but I do what I can and just modify some things.
My question is this: it took me a year to get my body where I wanted it and only 5 months to undo all of that. Do you think it will take as long to get back to where I was, or do you think the weight will come off a bit faster this time?

I think it depends on how you approach it and how strict you are in your attempts. Everyone's body is different so it's really hard to say.0

I have found that weight I put on quickly came off quickly. That old, slowly acquired fat takes forever.
But in terms of your exercise, no, I think you'll get back in shape much faster.

Don't worry about the speed at which it comes off. Commit to a true life style change (if you kept it off for a while, you had to have changed your eating habits/life style). I understand a lot of change in your life can cause some weight to come back, but commit to going back to your healthy life style and I'm sure you have to make some modifications for you shoulder, but you can still walk, run, hike, bike (maybe), do some weight training, dance (I'm not sure how bad your shoulder is). The thing is...there's always ways around an injury to get back fit or to stay fit. Plus....99% is what you eat: fresh, raw fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meats (if you're not vegetarian), low fat diary (if you eat diary), and nuts/seeds (for healthy fats).
You can do this! Remember it's not about how fast you get there...it's about finishing (kind of like a marathon)! :happy:0 -
The same exact thing happened to me, except it wasnt injury. It all started when my wife gave birth to our 2nd child in december, I suddenly had no time to go to the gym, and with not going to the gym I lost motivation to eat healthy. I have started about 3 weeks ago eating healthy and back at the gym, I lost 10 lbs rather quickly (probably water weight) then I was stuck for about a week and a half at the same weight, couldnt figure it out, so I gave my self a break from the gym yesterday and have lost another lb. the only difference, you gained 20 lbs, I gained 45 lbs (originally lost 100) I was not only not eating healthy, I was back to fast food and eating out all the time. took about 9 months to put on that weight, but I was taking in over 3000 calories per day at least. very bad.
Now I am back to 1600 calories and eating very healthy with minimal grains and most of the carbs come from fruits and vegetables. Not too sure how long it will take to lose the remaining 30 lbs (I lost 15 lbs in 3 weeks) I would say just stay strict, and make sure you do not eat too much, and what you are taking in needs to be healthy. I do a lot of cardio, that seemed to help me drop the 100 lbs originally. I was finally within 5 lbs of being completely happy with my self and I let it all go. Needs to be a lifestyle of eating healthy so it will become normal. the same goes for working out weather it be resistance or cardio or both, needs to be a lifestyle.
