Nice! I went gluten free 7 months ago and no longer have IBS, horrible menstrual cramping, foggy brain or puffiness. I feel AMAZING without gluten and can tell within hours when I've had some gluten. Yuck. I can't beleive I lived like that for so long!!

Good for you! I've been GF for about the same amount of time as you. I'm in testing now for various food allergies and decided on my own to try GF, just because I was so tired of feeling lousy and was ready to try anything. I am feeling so much better. The dark circles under my eyes are gone, I have much more energy and my skin looks much clearer. I just finished reading Eat to Live and am considering trying a vegetarian diet, at least for a little while.

This is a great time to go GF since there are so many more tasty products than a few years ago for those cravings when you're first starting out. Tinkyada pasta is fabulous (not calorie-free, unfortunately) and Udi's makes all the wonderful baked items you will miss (also not calorie-free, alas.) Bob's Mill makes flours for home baking/cooking. Do read labels; manufacturers sneak wheat, gluten, and hydrolized plant protein or food starch plus other gluten ingredients into all kinds of prepared foods you'd never imagine.

I agree with the poster who said it was a blessing in disguise. It doesn't bother me one bit to say "no thanks" to the endless pieces of office birthday cake, boxes of donuts or platters of cookies that show up at meetings. Burgers taste almost as good w/o the bun (even Umami Burger will do a protein-style lettuce wrap on any burger you order.) For some reason I feel less deprived when I have the GF excuse.
