If Mr. Instant Gratification can do it, so can you.

That's me, Mr. Instant Gratification. I just started seriously taking my unhealthy weight into account and begun to change my life. As I was walking back to my computer a few minutes ago, I passed the pantry. As usual, I opened the door and started cruising for easy snacks. Then it hit me...what was I doing cruising for snacks when I'm almost 100lbs overweight? I shut the door and moved on. I know that sounds simple and not a big deal, but to me it is. Just shutting the pantry door and walking away is huge for me. To avoid further temptation I am getting ready to take my dog to the park, turning temptation into healthy exercise. Get out of the house, get moving, somewhere there is no food. I invite you today to join me in shutting the pantry, or better yet, not opening it out of habit, but only opening it when genuinely hungry or it's part of your meal plan. If we can do this today, we can do it every day.

I know that's not an easy thing!! Along those same lines, I was feeling a little embarassed a few minutes ago... I walked into a convenience store and walked out with a bottle of water... that's all... no soda, no candy bar, no nuts, no protein bar (just in case)... just a single bottle of water.
And that felt good!
Have a great day!0 -
I have never walked out of a convenience store with just water. Wow. Good for you! Those places are packed with temptations.0

Wish I'd've read this before I cracked open the bag of Terra sweet potato chips... :grumble:0

Good for you! That's such an important step!
I've been trying to remember how bad I feel after eating doughnuts and a few other things, I don't even really want them, but if I was feeling down they'd be my go to treat. Or a chocolate bar, which really tastes pretty chemically. So I'm trying to remember that I don't really want it. Note to self, buy bananas and apples for healthy snacks!0 -
I do that a lot with the fridge Good for you!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats and keep up the great work!0
