LOTR saga is finally complete!

I may be the only dork in the U.S. that is happy for this, but I just figured out that they finally made "The Hobbit" a motion picture. It completes the series! I read the entire series before it ever came out in the movies, and I started with 'The Hobbit'. that is f-in awesome.

Comes out in December....it has been about a 9 year wait...

    Except you'll have to wait a little longer for the whole story - I believe they are dragging "The Hobbit" out into 2 movies. Which just seems like blatant money-grabbing to me, it's a much shorter story and could certainly fit in one movie.

    Well, if they do split it into two parts, I can wait for that. The first part gets the ball rolling, and Hollywood doesn't like to leave a movie incomplete...

    Yeah I don't get why they are splitting it up. If the 3 books are split into 3 movies (roughly speaking), why is a single book getting split into 2 movies?

    I am a LOTR freak! I have the Elven Love ring as my wedding band! And I have an Elven tattoo. I can't wait till it comes out too!

    They hacked large chunks out of the books to fit them into 3 movies. Including some of my favorite side stories!

    I don't understand that either. But knowing Hollywood, it is probably about trying to pull in some extra profit.

    I've been excitedly waiting for this since I first saw the trailer last year!

    I doubt this will be filmed any time in the next 50 years. Way to complex and long to film. Then again, prior to Peter Jackson, LOTR was considered impossible to film.

    I'm a bit disappointed that they are making this a two-part series instead of just one longer film, but I'm glad it's finally being done and by a great cast and director!

    Noone can pull off a wise and quirky old wizard like Ian Mckellen. He pulls it off great. By far, my favorite character.

    Ironically, I was also into the Redwall series as a 5th grader...I loved those books. Super dorkism.

    'Nother LOTR fan here.
    Can't wait for the Hobbit to open, but it' has been filmed as 3 films not 2. And they include parts from The Silmarillion.
