Need some support

Good Morning,
I started out strong the first few weeks and it seems my motivation and strength is slowly dropping I feel like the only way to be held accountable for my actions is to maybe speak on it here and hope some strong words of encouragement and advice will help me. I am finding that at night I am waking up and eating...and I am not eating anything good. I can't help it for some reason I have no will power at the wee hours of the morning. It totally ruins my day and then I am over my calorie goal. All that hard work and exercise and being good all day is totally ruined. Does this happen to any of you or am I the only fatty in the middle of the night LOL? What can I do to give me strength and will power?? I am totally needing some encouragement and advice....

Well! You are not alone... Definatly!
The day before yesterday I ate a whole icecream box with chocolate syrup.. And it was delicious!!!
I will not pretend I know alot about food, dieting and calories, because I dont.. But I do know a little something something about human beings!
When you have the night snack you do, DONT feel guilty about it.. Because it will make your thinking negative.. "Oh, no I ate this and this, I will not be able to burn it off, I am such a failure" etcetc.. Creating an "evil" negative spiral in your thoughts, and it will affect you, and make you feel horrible. And maybe you even feel like, "theres no point in working out, because I will just fail and eat more unhealthy foods tonight" .. If that is how you think, stop it. If you believe you will do something, you will most likely do it.
I am not much of a motivator, but.. When you do something you know you shouldnt have, dont waste your time feeling bad about it, instead, be positive about it.. "Alright, I might have eaten all of these unhealthy foods now, but they were really good, and tomorrow I will work out to help get rid of them"
Just rememeber all of your negative thoughts are NOT helping you, they are not your friend.. Turn the negative to positive, it is do-able!
As for the munching, do you have good healthy nightsnack options? I have a few
-Banana
-Avocado with lemonpepper (You should definatly try this)
-Olives (They are salty and good, almost like chips.. A good replacement for chips)
-SnackaJacks
Maybe when you prepare a healthy dinner, make some leftovers that you leave in the refrigirator so you can snack on that later!
And remember my new saying!

I completely understand where you're coming from. I remember getting up with the kids and stopping for a snack on the way by. I had a hard time stopping. Especially because I don't get more than a couple of hours sleep without being woken up again. The only answer that worked for me was to make sure I didn't go to bed hungry. I like to have a bowl of puffed wheat cereal before bed. It has whole grains and stays with me through the night. Another thing that helps now, is that I wear a bite plane to bed. That makes it much more difficult to snack. (not saying that would work for you)
Don't get to discouraged. You recognize the problem and you're determined to fix it. You just need the solution that will work for you.

Hey,
You are not the only one I'm one who wakes up and eats also. I used to eat everything from chips and dips to burger and fries. So I decided to try something new. Before going to bed try eating a slice of toast with peanut butter or my personal favorite almond butter. That or a glass of chocolate milk. If I have one of those nights where I do wake up and eat I some trail mix or a granola bar it really does seem to help. Please feel free to add me I'll help anyway I can.0 -
Thanks everyone...I just don't want to ruin all this hard work with these night time binges. I feel like I work so hard and do so well all day. You are all helping! Thanks for taking the time to respond!0

well i would probably start by putting notes to myself on my fridge and cabinets about saying "go back to bed you will regret eating anything right now later!!!! "
its going to be a habit you are gonna have to break....and it may not happen fast....but thats okay.....don't beat yourself up....it takes time to retrain your mind into a healthy mindset! but it can be done good luck!0 -
actually this is kind of funny my boyfriend said he would make me a banner for across the entry way to the kitchen that says, "Don't do it!" LOL0

Yes. I have discovered though if I keep myself out of the kitchen it helps. If I'm doing dishes or laundry I've been gravitating to the fridge. As far as the middle of the night thing I hear you there too as my husband gets home around 2 in the morning and always has something yummy (but not healthy) for dinner and sometimes the smell wakes me up. I've gotten into the habit of keeping a bottle of water next to my side of the bed. If I wake up I drink that and that tricks me into feeling that I've had something. I also put a picture of myself of my goal size on the front of the fridge. Man that pictures old!0
