Hi everyone,
I'm new here and looking for friends to help form a supportive network for this journey. I am new to MFP, but definitely not new to weight loss (and gain). My name is Lisa, I'm 29, 5'9" and from sunny Miami, FL. I'm an attorney, but no longer practice and instead run my own professional writing services company. I'm not married and don't have any kids, although I do have an adorable English Bulldog. I love tennis, but hate running. I am a life-long extreme yo-yo dieter -- I basically have been absolutely incapable of staying the same weight for longer than a couple months. I have clothes in my closet from size 4 to 18. Ridiculous. I'm looking for a group of MFP friends (it would be great to find some friends here close to my age) who have similar goals. I really would love a great support system here, as I've always gone at weight loss alone which obviously didn't work. Add me if you want to be friends. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone here!
Height: 5'9"
CW: 240
HW: 244
LW: 125
GW1: 150
UGW: 135
Here's a photo of me at 21 years old and 135lbs. (I think I looked perfect at this weight and that's why 135 is my UGW)
Here's a photo of me at 29 years old and about 240 lbs. (these photos aren't really that clear, but they are the only 2 photos I have of me at this weight as I hide from the camera at this size)
In case you are interested, here's a history of my weight ups and downs.
13 years old: 175 lbs. (always a big kid, but not obese yet)
14 years old: 128 lbs. (got the weight loss bug and crash dieted and compulsively exercised my way down to a thin 125 lbs.)
16 years old: 170 lbs. (even though I was on my school's varsity swimming and water polo teams, I binged a lot)
17 years old: 215 lbs. (I was 215 lbs when I graduated from high school)
18 years old: 200 lbs. (I dieted over the summer and was 200 lbs on my first day of university)
22 years old: 120 lbs. (I focused much of my college experience on dieting and exercising. It took over my life. Had really disordered eating. I was thin but it was an uphill battle to stay at such a low weight for my frame.
23 years old: 187 lbs. (gained a bunch of weight right before law school)
24 - 27 years old: 150 lbs. (dropped down to a healthy 150 lbs.)
27 - 28 years old: 185 lbs. (started working and gained again)
28 years old: 234 lbs. (eating really spiraled out of control; stopped playing competitive tennis due to wrist fracture, got really depressed and antisocial)
29 years old: 197 lbs. (dropped weight for some weddings I was a bridesmaid in)
29.75 years old (present date): 240 lbs. (gained it all back and then some)
Have a Great Day,
Lisa

Hi Lisa! You can add me if you like, I am also a yo yo dieter! I am currently stuck at around 154 but my ultimate goal is 140, at which I know all my clothes fit me properly.. It is so frustrating to try so hard but get little in the way of results! Your photos are pretty motivating in themselves, I will not look like that in a bikini even at 140 (but I do have two children!). I have found being on here hugely helpful and supportive..0

Hi there! I'm in the exact same boat as you!!!!0

I'm also a chronic yo-yo dieter. I've been "starting over" for years. It's kind of embrassing really. I went out with friend tis wknd and avoided cameras like the plague. I can't live life like that anymore.0

Welcome! Feel free to add me! slow and steady wins the race.. this is not a diet, its a total lifestyle change.

I'm 5'10" and 135 sounds like a very low goal weight in my opinion. If you struggled maintaining your weight around there you may want to consider choosing a higher goal weight and focus more on reducing your body fat % and lifting weights instead. Just a personal opinion though, best of luck! :flowerforyou:0

Our goal weights are very similar! Except I'm a bit shorter than you!
I'm 25 and currently under my original goal of 150. (about 142) My new goal I set for myself is 135. Hoping to reach it by new years!
I'll send you an add request!
Good luck this time. Hope you find something that works for you, so you can reach a weight you are happy with and can easily maintain!0
