    22 miles today and probably should have done more whilst it was dry, a little cold and windy with a few flooded roads to negotiate but overall quite a pleasant ride

  • Hi, I'm back in for November, after a good start in the October challenge I unfortunately fell way short of my 100 mile target only completing 63 miles.
    I felt bad initially, blaming the british weather, with the dark nights being the only time I can get out on my bike, and with rain and fog my enthusiasm faltered. However having now had time to reflect upon what I actually did achieve I realised I did 63 miles more last month than I did the previous month and that is all down to this topic posting.

    So, thank you to the originator and the couple of extra friends picked up along the way for their encouragement.
    Therefore I'm trying again and setting myself the same target this month to see how close I can get.
    Anyone who wants to add me as a friend for mutual encouragement etc please feel free to do so.

    Is this a group or a topic? I rode on Saturday for 12.5 miles - my first spin class of the winter. I move to spinning in the winter becuase I hate riding in the cold. But I love my bike so I ride inside during the winter and outside in the warmer months.

    Nov 1: was 76 minutes on the trainer (to Local Hero)
    Nov 2: (today) was 62 minute road rode for 33.5km (20.8 miles), for an average pace of 32.2km/hr (20.01 mi/hr).
    Nov 3: 90 minute road ride (cold out!!) in the morning, and in the afternoon 119 minute trail ride.
    Nov 5: 78 minute MTB ride.
    Nov 6: 80 minute MTB ride.
    Nov 7: 71 minute MTB ride.

    Total time for November = 576 minutes (9.6 hours)

    I get my miles in back and forth to work. I will get in a 20 mile commute 3 to 4 times a week. I will try and stretch one of those rides into a 35 mile long commute once a week when I can.

    Tennessee isn't as cold as some of the spots y'all are at, but it gets miserably damp through the fall / winter. November is the make it or brake it month here. Temps will be 80 one day, then drop to the 50's and stay there. This month is HTFU month.

    My time on the bike is the only thing that makes the weight loss possible. My mind isn't strong enough to diet. But it loves exercise.

    Keep the rubber side down!

    Woot Woot! I got on my bike for the first time in weeks. I got in 13 miles this afternoon. The problem was, by the time i got home, my children had all eaten hotpockets (dinner of champions, right?) and we missed out on family dinner. With the earlier nights, I think that I'm going to have to shorten my rides to get everything done. It was 70 degrees today, we're expecting a blizzard this weekend.

    I usually sit on the side and only use MFP as a tool to fine tune my weight prior to the start of racing season...but this is fun.

    I'm in for a thousand.

    I weighed my bike a few weeks ago to input the figures on my Garmin and I was shocked too !!! It is a 5 year old aluminium hybrid so the bike itself is not too bad but I think I may be carrying a few too many tools :happy:
