I am gaining weight rapidly

i am 5' 2" and now at 125. despite what y'all might say, i am fat. i have huge thighs and i am slowly starting to see stretch marks on them, as well as cellulite. its really descusting. on top of that, my stomack has slowly started to protrude it is past my breasts now and i cant handle it anymore. i know that i am gaining weight because i am eating too much, it not for any health conditions. i dont know what to do. i want to be at 105 by christmas, i know that is unrealistic, but that is my goal. i dont know how to get there! help?

  • At that height 125lb is not fat!

If you want to feel better about yourself take control. 20lbs by Christimas at your lower weight may not happen but you can start the process.

Track your eating, learn how to healthy and learn what is healthy. A lot of things we think are healthy aren't. Get some exercise in and don't forget about the weights. Working muscle is the best to change how you look.

Don't pay attention to the scale. It can lie to us. Pay attention to your measurements and how clothing fits.

The first thing is to get rid of your deadline. Any healthy weight loss is a step in the right direction, and you want to make sure that the changes you make to get there are ones that you will be able to keep up in the long term.

My advice would be to spend a week or two eating normally, but logging everything you eat. That will help you get a sense of what changes you need to be making.

Then, make the changes one or two at a time. It's easy to feel overwhelmed if you have a whole laundry list of changes to make to your diet. However, if you approach it as, "Just this week, I will do X," it is a lot more manageable.

I would maybe see a couple of different doctors, because there might be something else going on here.

I'm 5'2" and 125 isn't fat, maybe there's some extra weight but it's not fat. Start tracking what you're eating on here and make the adjustments you need. Being small means being really careful with food intake and as you get older it gets more critical. I doubt you'll lose 20 lbs by Xmas or that 105 is even a good weight to aim for. For me to be 105 I'd have to literally be starving myself.

I don't want to scare you now but you should see your doctor. I started gaining weight and girth in my stomach rapidly and pronouced. I did not weigh what I should have for the size I became. Turns out I had a cyst on my overy the size of a watermelon. Surgey, stomach flat again.

HEY! you are not fat and every women has cellulite. Models do but they photo-shop it out! And cut that, i lost about 20 pounds in 2 months. you just have to take it slow and make my fitness pal a part of your routine and lifestyle. You need to eat 1200 calories a day, DRINK WATER and GREEN TEA and work out! You will see awesome results just doing that.

Looking at your profile, I notice a few things.

You're not 18. I'd suggest waiting until you are. Give your body a chance to mature.

Comparing yourself to your 'skinny' friends or sister is not a healthy mentality. You are YOU, they are not.

You can be at the correct weight but still have too much fat in relationship to muscle. I would suggest that you focus on exercise to tone those muscles.
  • maybe join a gym,or take up walking start a diet its been only 5 weeks for me and i have lost 14 pounds by staring a 2000 cal diet and going to the gym 4-5 days a week . good luck and if you need someone to talk to just email

Perfect weight for 5'2" is about 115.
Find TDEE and eat slightly below it.

i'm 5'2" and at 125 i felt heavy too, but I think this was the problem...i had a lot of fat, not enough muscle, and i was out of shape. i didn't have an appreciation for the nutrition that would get me to where i wanted to be, and the workouts i did were not really helping any. since then, i gained a lot of weight so fast, getting off of medications that basically just suppressed my appetite, but now, even though the battle is even tougher, and im farther away from my goal, i guess what i've learned is you have to want it more than weight and looks, and you have to commit to eating healthy and exercising. if you want to look like the fitness people on TV commercials, it's time to start adopting their habits that get you there--dedication to hardcore exercise and healthy eating. 20 pounds by xmas is not doable but if you have this commitment to health, then it doesn't expire at christmas. it stays with you whether fat or thin, plateau or losing streak, and progress is slow, but fulfilling.
