This describes me to a T...I was just thinking how this journey is turning into just another collection of things I can be disappointed in myself about. It's such a destructive way to think..and now I'm a failure at having the right attitude, too!

Just ease up on yourself a little bit. I think we all can be waaaaaaaaaaay too hared on ourselves. This just reminds us how exhausting that can be. Hit the ball when it comes your way, but don't run around the neighborhood looking for balls in the air to hit.

Thanks for bumping this. It is something that I've been thinking about a lot lately related to my own habits. I struggle with this and I have been working hard to overcome that "all or nothing" mentality and replace it with "make a good choice 90% of the time" mentality. It is difficult for me!

Really great article. Thanks for posting! I often feel this way, so it was good to read about an alternative way of thinking!

OMG i was nodding like a mad woman reading the article....

You wrote it about me didnt you!!! I let one small slip up undo all my 'healthy' choices and just blow it - same with the exercise i dont make it one morning and thats the week ruined! Obviously i know it not all ruined by a slip up - but the little voice inside my head thinks different.

Thank you for this - i will try out 80/20 and see if it really works on a 10/10 perfectionist!!
  • I used to be a perfectionist, but I also suffered from OCD. It was so freeing when I realized nobody is perfect and nothing in life is perfect. Letting go of wanting everything in my life is really what helped me be successful with my weightloss and my attitude toward life and love:heart: have dramatically changed for the better (which my husband is happy about because it is less preassure on him).

Thanks for shariung that article. When it comes to weight loss I am a perfectionist. If I so much as have 1 'bad' - nee unhealthy food then I will just quit for the day or week. I am really working on this and the ideas in the article are fab!
