Hi!

I ate dinner at Bravo last night and am wondering if anyone would have an idea if this sounds right. I ordered the roasted eggplant with Barilla whole grain penne. There was a little cheese on the dish but I did not get any extra. It had a tomato sauce. According to my estimate half of the dish has 350 calories. Does that sound right. I estimated 1 cup pasta (I am not sure if that's the correct amount) and 1 oz cheese plus the pretty low calorie sauce and eggplant. Is that a safe assumption or would it be higher?

Let me know what you think!

Thanks!

I always try to look them up online. I find that sometimes the nutritrional section can be hard to find on the restaurant's website, so if that doesn't work then I just google "[restaurant] nutritional information" and I'll get a link to it. sometimes the MFP entries come up on google too, so maybe search the food directory here too.
  • Or you can check www.nutritionix.com. It's got a list of about 150 restaurants. I usually use it to build my meal where it automatically populates the nutrition facts. It's best to use it before making that order.
  • I know this is a little bit of an old thread, but I was just trying to figure out my Bravo! meal and stumbled on this today.

Good suggestions from the other replies, only Bravo! seems to go out of their way to keep their nutrition info a secret. I went there today, even asked the server if I could see a nutrition guide. She went to the back, and came back saying "we don't have nutrition guides" (most chains do). She did say that they can customize anything on the menu (except something like lasagna or sauces that are prepared in batches). In addition to calories, I try to watch carbs. Most Italian restaurants will serve pasta sauces over broccoli instead of pasta if you ask. Bravo! did that for me as well, although I still don't have a clue how many calories are in the sauce I chose (pomodoro).

Googling it found only a couple of menu items (most chain restaurants you can find almost anything by googling). The one with the most was actually MFP, although only one of the sauces we had was in the database. And there were two versions of it. And neither was listed without Pasta. So, I took the higher (better safe than sorry) and looked up the Barilla pasta (which is what Bravo! says they use), and subtracted a cup of pasta (just a guess - maybe they serve more), then added values for a cup of broccoli.

Your estimate seems reasonable, although I don’t think many of Bravo!’s sauces are "pretty low calorie." :noway:
