Fitbit/ pedometer/BMR/calculations

Instead of buying a Fitbit I want to manually add the calories burnt from my accelerometer pedometer. I don't think I should add this to my TDEE or my BMR as one will be too many and not enough.
Any advice please.

Can anyone help?0

Take your BMR x 1.2 for sedentary and then add in your pedometer calories.0

Just wasn't sure if the 'sedentary' value includes SOME of the steps that my pedometer counts. Just sedentary mean 'getting up and sitting in the couch all day?'0

Sedentary means someone who works a desk job, isn't physically moving, lifting things all day. It doesn't mean laying on the couch watching TV so just walking around during the day shouldn't be counted as exercise.0

But how then do I know what calories intake should be my basic level, if I'm going to add in ALL the calories shown up by my pedometer.0

How does Fitbit do this?0
