How do you decorate your tree? Do you use a color pattern? Post some pictures, I want to see your pretty trees.

Here is mine, I do it red and white just like Mom used to :)

You need a LOT more LIGHTS and stuff!!! I'll find one of mine..somewhere
  • Lovely first picture!!! My family growing up had two trees. The one in the front that faced the street was decorated in white lights and crystal ornaments and one in the family room that was just tacky and crazy. Ahhhh memories!

We only have one tree at the moment, though when renovations are done in our home we'll probably have two...

I switch it up every year...I've got about 5 different sets of ornaments and such I rotate through... The fun tree will end up in the renovated basement and then when the livingroom is done with new floors and furniture, that one will get the more classy elegant tree...I love classic decor and fun stuff but I can't mix them...just like when people use white lights and colored...it makes my eyes twitch.

I like simple. My MIL goes tinsel/garland/bulb/light crazy and it looks like Christmas threw up all over it.

On topic: I also go with a red theme, but mine is red and gold, and I use lots of brass ornaments that my family collected as I was growing up from different trips throughout the US. It's a very nostalgic tree for me. Will try to find a pic at home tonight.

I get a real tree, I like the smell of it and two trees are planted for each tree harvested here by the forestry. Basically mine never looks like that because a real tree doesn't have that kind of coverage, there are gaps and irregularities but like you I stick to two colours and use Newbridge silver decorations that I get as a gift each year from my Mum. It's very special and nostalgic to me, simple class > tack!

Mine is a multi-colored clusterfuk. I've collected some from when I was younger, extras of the ones I've made as gifts for people, some from trips, and stuff like that. My daughter gets an ornament every year from my dad and step mom, so there's always a new one, too.

No tinsel for me... The cats eat it.

I can;t even remember the last time my family had a christmas tree. SO much work for no payoff. There is no point.

We also don't decorate really. If it isn't practical, it;s not in the house haha

Colored lights, all colors of ornaments, things the children made in school, my Halloween bat to top the tree - real American hodge-podge.

My tree is a gigantic mess with things that my niece has made for me, or things we have made together... there is no color coding - basically it has all the colors. My ornaments that are store bought are things that I love and bought on clearance, things I have been given, and things I got as a kid. I love it because its fun, I don't need anything tidy and fancy.

Oh and it always has lots of lights.

Our tree is a hodge-podge of homemade ornaments, ornaments purchased on vacation (we try and get one everywhere we go) and family ornaments. I'm not a big garland fan, but my girls like it, so I let them put it on there. Our tree is always topped with an angel with lights. You can't see her very well in the photo, but she is so pretty.

Growing up we always had the same tree and decorations. Every year we would buy one or two extra decorations for the tree but it essentially stayed the same.

When I got married and we started putting up our own tree we started shopping though my in-laws attic through themed Christmas tree bins (they must have 12 different themes) and we pick and choose to alternate every year. These are from the past 3 years.

(I prefer gingerbread trees over houses...just easier with the kids.)

Other than those...we have a 12' tree with a ton of clear lights. I tend to decorate it to match my great room - so lots of red, gold, green in whimsical patterns with lots of sparkly (same colored) snowflakes, poinsettia sticks, and other floral "sticks". I don't do traditional ornaments on this tree as it's more for purrrrdy....but we have another tree that the kids decorate with all the novelty ornaments. :)

One of my favorites too! I think that was one I made up all on my own. I went to Michaels and bought a million poinsettias with gold glitter and stuck them into the tree. I bunched like 6 together to make the top pc (where a star would normally go) and then used gold bows throughout the rest. I used red poinsettia garland on my banisters/railing too. LOVE those things!
