Sorry, I'm not a calorie counter. Never have been, never will be. I eat until I'm not hungry anymore, not until I am full. In my opinion calorie counting is overrated.0 -

Isn't calorie counting kind of the basis for MFP??0 -

Good recipe. Basic, but like you said, cheap.0 -

Only 714 calories per serving.
Two cups of uncooked rice?
Think I'll have a hamburger instead.0 -
I didn't get on here to count my calories. I got on here so that anyone could ask me a question related to the Health Industry. My background includes: currently a strength specialist, former personal trainer, exercise science&fitness education degrees. This stuff is my life. There is more to this website than calorie counting.0

It is the perfect snack. You can reheat it and it will taste the exact same.0 -

I think it's supposed to serve four, so it wouldn't be 2 cups of rice for one serving. More like 1/2 a cup which seems very reasonable.
But I need to point out just because you find CC "overrated", OP, doesn't mean it is. Apparently from all the success here it works! And some people can't just eat until they aren't hungry anymore or we wouldn't have an obesity problem in the country.0 -
Yup - my "no longer hungry" button is broken so must count calories.0

sounds good! I'll have to fix this and pack it for my lunches!0

I completely agree with you. And you're right, CC does play a big factor in losing the weight. I personally would rather just eat healthy food all the time, exercise, and not have to worry about counting my calories. But, like I said, that is for me, not everyone else.0 -
It's all about Self Control people. But, I do agree that counting calories is a good way to start having or building better Self Control. Everyone keep up the good work!0

Yeah, I think for a lot of people it's more than just eating, it's emotional struggles and that's why they can't just stop when not hungry anymore. They aren't doing it out of hunger. I think our journey helps us to work all that out. I eat incredibly healthy. I eat very little processed foods and lots of whole foods. But I could still get fat on those things if I didn't count my cals simply because somewhere along the way I mixed up my emotions with my eating and that's a bad road to go down and a hard habit to break. But luckily I am getting there.
Thanks for the recipe and good luck on your journey! :drinker:0 -
I would skip the rice and add some frozen veggies. You all ready have carbs with the beans.0

You can totally do that. But I just enjoy the rice more. I do enough exercise throughout the day to have those extra carbs. But you are right, you can put veggies or anything else in that you want. So easy to make, and so easy to change up.0
