How much weight could I lose by Christmas?

I am 265 pounds now. I am only going to drink water, and eat whole healthy foods: veggies, fruits, eggs, nuts, chicken and rice. And walk for at least 30 minutes a day.

If you just started the first week could be like 5 and then 2 per week so 15. If you add more cardio perhaps 20.
If you have already been at this a while then 10.

This is good but unless you eat less than you burn you could still gain weight eating these foods. It's all about portion size.

It's not just what you eat, it's how much you eat as well.
I always feel better when I drink extra water, if you don't like the taste, a few slices of lemon will help.

Fruits are good, but be picky and choose nutritionally dense fruits as they have more sugar.
Rice is ok, but so are potatoes and pasta, just in moderation. Potatoes are actually very healthy when not fried.

I wouldn't shoot for more than 3 pounds a week, and keep exercise goals in mind as well. Try and walk further in those 30 minutes every day. Be kind to yourself over Thanksgiving and don't let it set you back, but don't deprive yourself of everything.

    Good luck

You might be better off focusing on how much weight you could lose by NEXT Christmas. If you start eating healthy and exercising now, you could be a lot thinner by then. It's not bad to have short term goals, but if you really want to get to a healthy weight, you need to think long term and setting an "x amount of pounds by such and such a date" goal is sometimes a recipe for disappointment. Focus on the process and you will succeed.

I know I need to lose 100 pounds and by next year I will be at my goal...smaller goals help me...I get overwhelmed thinking I need to lose 100 pounds. So I break it down!

Smaller goals are a good idea, but tying them to specific dates can be a set-up for frustration. I have set and met many interim goals, but I don't tie them to particular dates. I had similar stats to you when I started, and am now down to 196 from a high of about 260.

100 pounds in a year is an ambitious goal. Remember that weight loss slows down as you lose, so 2 pounds a week for a whole year might not be realistic.

I find that a lot of people who post asking how many pounds they can lose by x date are looking for a quick fix. There is no quick fix. That's why I say you should think long term. Sure, set short term goals -- 10 pounds, 10% of your body weight, whatever, but put most of your thinking into what you can do each day to stay on track, not on whether or not you meet a specific deadline by a specific date.
