Measure and weigh everything. My favorite line "What you do today is for your tomorrow"
Never get discouraged by the scales. Your tomorrow will one day come if you stick to your plan.

Focus on foods that have ONE ingredient: broccoli, for example.

IMO, it's when you get into processed foods that have a long and mysterious list of ingredients – glucose, fructose, preservatives, modified oils, starches, sulphites, extracts, artificial colours, artificial sweeteners, stabilizers, etc. etc. etc. that you get into BIG TROUBLE! :frown:

    Good luck!
  • Don't think of it as a diet, it is a permanent lifestyle change. Being healthy has got to be #1 priority.

    ^^^Yes, right on!

If you have a holiday or unhealthy food you absolutely can't live without, remake it into something healthier at home. Where there is a recipe, there is a way!

Measure your body, don't just track weight.

    LOTS of water!

Raw is good--less processed foods, more raw fruits and veggies

Move! A little is better than nothing!

Don't completely cut out certain foods you love--just eat less, and make sure you've earned it!

    Portion control is your friend.

Fiber and protein help fill you up and keep you full--my breakfast changed from 4 cups of cereal to a 6 oz container of greek yogurt and a piece of fruit!

ALWAYS go to bed hungry :) I told my mom this and she started eating smaller dinners a few hours before bed... not only is she losing weight, but her nightly heart burn has disapeared!

Realize that opinions are like *kitten* and everyone has one. You are going to get dozens of conflicting thoughts on this thread. Because most people think that their way is the only way.

In the end it really does boil down to this: try SOMETHING. If that doesn't work, try something else. The calories in < calories out is #1, be that through change in diet or increase in exercise.

    Good luck.
  • Tip #1: You do not talk about Fight Club.

Best tip you can ask for. Seriously.

But if that doesn't work, remember your reasons. Remember why you're doing this. That's what's gonna keep you going past pains or all that food porn :P
