Most Common Excuses NOT To Exercise or Eat Healthy

I'm writing a report (no seriously I am lol) and I was wondering, what are some of the excuses that you have used, or heard other people use, AGAINST making the change to healthy eating and exercise?

The most common one I hear is "I don't have time" or "I want to ENJOY my life because life is too short" (don't even get me started on this one).

So let's have them...

My excuse used to be 'I'm okay with how I look".
  • My favourite bug bear: 'I can't afford it'. Despite how much cheaper cooking proper food from scratch is than eating junk!

'I don't have the energy to exercise.'

    'I don't have the willpower.'

'I had a minor knee injury 10 years ago, so I can't do any exercise.'

    That was quick! Thanks :)

I could comment on every one of those... but I won't get into that debate tonight lol.

My most common excuse is that it is raining. I do not own rain gear and I do not own clothes warm enough to just go out in the rain. So if it is raining, I'm probably saying I can't/won't because of that.

But I do go whenever it isn't raining and I am learning to go when I get the window of sunshine. (I just recently moved to the Pacific Northwest, I have a lot to get used to here)

People will reference someone who ate fatty foods, drank beer all day and smoked like a chimney who lived to be 100 as proof that that's a recipe for success that should be followed.

Mine used to be I don't have time working full time with 2 kids in elementary school with their own homework, sports etc etc.

Nothing but an EXCUSE. :-) That I have stopped making.

"Its not Monday yet" when its in the middle of the week.
  • "I don't have workout clothes".
"I will be the biggest one at the gym and people will laugh at me".
"I've already eaten something bad today, so there's no point now. I will just have to start tomorrow".
"I could never be as good at it as you, so there's no point in trying".

I will just do it tomorrow or start on Monday was mine.

This was a double edge sword as this would also green light me to eat like total crap the rest of the day/week.

"My schedule doesn't allow me time to exercise"

"I'm always on the go, it's impossible to eat healthy"

    "Too hot, too cold"

    "I don't feel good"

    etc

For exercise: "I don't feeeeeeeeeeeel like it."

For eating: "If I eat this today, I'll be perfect tomorrow to make up for it," or any of the "I'll start my diet on Monday," excuses.

I don't want to go to the gym.
It's too expensive to eat healthy.
    My family won't support me.

My boyfriend (could be girlfriend but usually not) always brings home junk.

Not common (I hope) but once I was told by someone that eating better makes them constipated, and exercise makes them gain weight.

Excuse: I was too tired after being up for over 16 hours. I deserved a little treat after a long 12.5 hour shift and a 3 hour commute (longer when it snows).
I combat this by counting all the calories in my lunch box and making sure I dont have any extra calories to stop for a treat.

I knew someone who started with some cardio, very light, and decided to give it up because it made their heart race too much.............hmmm not used to that huh?

Usually when I don`t, it is because "I don't have time"..... But really I am just being a lazy *kitten* donkey.

Also, 'I ****ed up today already, what is the point!?"

Well for awhile there it was "I have no time." then "I'm just too tired." and now it's "but my weights are in the truck of the car."....yup....I'm the laziest person alive lol.

    I'm tired.
Exercise makes me feel lousy (true story).
I don't have time (I work twelve hours a day. One hour commute. Leaves me with 4 waking hours to do household chores, prepare meals and have me time. I've never figured out how to effectively fit exercise in that time without feeling resentful).

Ive heard people say to people that are fit and healthy....... 'You're so lucky to be fit/healthy/slim...'
    LUCKY!!!! LUCKY!!!!!
Yep, Im lucky alright, lucky I get up at 5.30am to exercise.....lucky I dont eat doughnuts......lucky I think about what food is healthy.
I think these people confuse lucky with effort.

I walk, that's enough exercise for my body.
Eating healthy is way too expensive for my budget.
    I don't have enough time.
Eating healthy doesn't taste as good as takeout/fast food/etc.
I've been eating this way for YEARS and I'm fine!
