My birthday's in 8 days. But I pretty much ignore it completely, so it's whatever. No birthday month/week/ or day.

Happy Early Birthday:):):) :flowerforyou:  :flowerforyou:
  • Mine will be all weekend for my 45th in January!
  • I like going away for my bday so hopefully week long. If I don't then it's just the day. I usually count down to it as well.

For all you December babies.. this will make you laugh.. or cry..

I was referring back to a book I got for my birthday a few years ago and saw what my friend signed on it..
    "Happy Birthday -AND- Merry Christmas!!
...as wrong as it mat be to get only one gift"

It was a $30 book and a few rounds of drinks, so I didn't mind too much
    Ha!

I don't care so much about the gifts. I'd just like to be able to celebrate the anniversary of my birth a little better!

I'm an only child, so my parents always made a point to separate the days and I got gifts on both (in birthday paper on my birthday) and cake and stuff. But friends were always out of town if we weren't. It's still like that.

Hahaha!! I don't care about the gifts either, but I was born!!! Let's celebrate!! We do a birthday lunch for everyone in the office on their birthday and somehow mine always gets skipped either because of a snow storm or everyone is gone. That part just sucks.

Growing up, I did get spoiled. My father's birthday is the same day as mine and he always got he Christmas/birthday combo presents. So, he made sure our birthday was a big deal. We celebrated as a family and then he and I would go to dinner and a movie together. That was always special for me. :)

Lately it's more the "screw it, another step closer to the grave". But my birthday got less meaningful after my cousin passed away 3 days before my 13th birthday. I half-heartedly celebrate, but I'll never forget that phone call either.

Some years it is a weekly celebration while others it is just "meh....its just like any other day but I'm just one year older".

Yeah, growing up with the "christmas birthday gift" from pretty much everyone always sucked!! Or my birthday present was wrapped with christmas paper. Sure.. we're all adults now. But many December babies really got shafted growing up!

My youngest is a december (early, thankfully) and one day my husband handed me the christmas scotch tape... he got the evil glare, haha. NOOOooo.

I take my birthday off from work. Nobody bothers to remember it, so I just go out and spoil myself. All day, it's all about ME.

I never quite understood the whole not remembering. I have 3 generations worth of birthdays stuck in my head. My friends, if I don't know the day, I know the month and approx. placement.

i don't get it either, and I don't get why workplaces put such a huge emphasis on celebrating birthdays, there are usually a few 'select' people they seem to 'forget' (yearly too, it's sad).

My birthday has never been a big deal, even when I was a kid. I was born on December 21 and when I was little my mother would just give me a cake on Christmas, and under the tree were my presents for both days. lol As I became an adult my friends are usually heading out of town or money is tight, because of the holidays. I'm at the point now where I just don't care or expect anything. I always somehow manage to be single on my bday (and Valentines Day, what luck) so I don't even have a dude to celebrate with. lol And if the Mayans were correct, well looks like I definitely won't be having anything to celebrate next month. hahaha

edited not to sound so cranky twd the birthday week-ers.

I lean more towards the latter. It is just another day for the most part.

I come from a big family, but my mom did put in the "no christmas wrap on the birthday presents" when it comes to my birthday gifts... and usually the gifts are separate however; this year my mom asked my permission to give me my birthday gift with my Xmas gift as they go together and it will just ruin my xmas gift (still not sure what she is up to.)

I have non-birthday birthdays. I don't tell anyone that it happens. It disappears just as fast as it comes. It's coming soon as a matter of fact.... and it shall no happen. =)

I'm a total brat about them, if someone I expect would remember forgets, I get really upset. Though I haven't seem to have had great ones recently so I dread it whenever it does come around now.

I'm a dad, therefore since I am not mom or a kid my birthday doesn't matter,

Today's my birthday. Generally, my husband and sons will take me to dinner or make a favorite dish, give me a small gift, and sing Happy Birthday to me over a homemade cake my husband bakes. My parents and brother call me from another state, and even a couple of aunts send me cards. I am blessed --- for 47 years today and still going strong.

    It does matter!
  • If I was a December baby, I'd celebrate my 'and-a-half' birthdays in June :)
