I'm not sure if I have an absolute favorite because I like so many different styles. Here is my list, though (in no particular order):

    Steve Vai
    Joe Satriani
    Yngwie Malmsteen
Kai Hansen (of Helloween and Gamma Ray)
    Rik Emmett (of Triumph)
    Neal Schon (of Journey)
    B.B. King
    David Gilmour (of Pink Floyd)
    Criss Oliva (of Savatage)
    Dave Murray (of Iron Maiden)
Glenn Tipton & K.K. Downing (of Judas Priest)
    John Petrucci (of Dream Theater)

    Excellent taste.

My favorites...Yngwie Malmsteen (named my cat after him lolol), Michael Angelo Batio, Luca Turilli, Marty Friedman, Jason Becker, etc.

I play guitar myself, so i have so much repsect for talented artists, as i now how hard it is! i cant disagree with some of the names mentioned like Joe Satriani and John Mayer.
But you guys should check out a British singer/songwriter/guitarist called Ben Howard, he is simply amazing!

Eddie is my choice. I don't listen to a lot of current music, so I have to go with what I grew up (and partied) with.

Can't help it ... I love Carlos Santana.
    Great solos, great accompaniment ...
He is just a fantastic artist on the guitar for over 20 years.
