Having a deficiency in vitamins, or too much...Worse?

Well, I am just wondering. Is it worst having too much of the daily value for vitamins, or having a deficiency?

I know some vitamins are water soluble vitamins and can be taken more than the daily value for... like vitamin C, I take a vitamin C supplement that's like 330 % of the daily value, lol.

.. what vitamins are dangerous to get too much of?

I had a cup of pumpkin puree with breakfast and it had a lot of vitamin A in it, so.... I skipped my multi vitamin for today because it already had a lot of vitamin A in it. Not sure if it's bad to have too much vitamin A. But, I took a vitamin C and a B vitamin supplement.

depends... there are fat soluble vitamins and water soluble...

too much water soluble and you just pee them out... highly improbable to develop an excess...

too much fat soluble... and they will be stored in your fat and you can have problems...

If you're worried just make an appointment to see your doctor. They can order blood tests to track levels of certain vitamins (like Vitamin D). They might have a better answer for you. I frequently go waaaay over in Vitamin A because of my love for baby spinach and butternut squash but I've read that Vitamin A from plant sources is different than Vitamin A from animal sources or vitamins--both of which can be quite toxic. I did read that too much Vitamin A from plant sources (beta carotene) can make you turn orange though! Since I'm not a doctor and anyone can post on the internet---I plan to raise this same question with my doctor. It's a good question!

A, E, D, and K are the fat soluble vitamins and can cause serious problems if you get too much, but it takes A LOT. An overdose isn't something that's likely to happen by accident unless you mindlessly take megadoses over a long period. Neither pumpkin nor regular muti-vitamins have anything close to a toxic dose of vitamin A, so I wouldn't worry.
