Anyone using a Fitbit?

My work gave me one for free, its pretty nifty. Basic pedometer with bluetooth that auto updates to the app.. blah blah

anyone else using this? Have any look calibrating it?

I find at the end of the day it is about 1.5 miles off. I hope/think the steps are at least right.

It does not post to your updates - just gives you a -negative calorie count.

I have the Ultra version. Works great, though I no longer have it synced to MFP. The negative adjustment is something that can be toggled off - check the Fitbit adjustment thread in the Tech forum for more info.

Your miles might be off if you haven't input what your walking stride is on the Fitbit site.

EDIT: Here's a link to the thread. Three posts up from the bottom is Rachel's explanation of the negative adjustment fix.

Nice your company popped for the FitBit (Zip or the One?), but since MFP did an "update" to how it tracks, that negative thing is now there. There are several threads around that try to explain how to "set-up" both sites to play nice, but it doesn't work if you need custom settings or calorie counts. I unlinked it from MFP, but kept it linked to Endo. I know let Endo sync to MFP.

I never noticed if off on the miliage, it always seemed to be mostly accurate. The steps too. I could never get the Sleep Tracker to work, but it's ok. If I had know that less than 6 months after I popped the big bucks they would: 1) come out w/ bluetooth models (I have the Ultra - needs the base to sync) and 2) I can't use it to sync w/ MFP.... WHICH is WHY I bought it in the first place.

Hindsight being 20/20.... I am considering selling it and picking up an Ormon pedometer.

A lot of people on here use fitbits - myself included. I love it for giving you an idea of your burn for the day. If I sit at my computer all day, it reduces my calories available and if I go for a hike, it increases my calories available. I don't have to put too much thought into it.

I thought about calibrating mine, but did some preliminary sanity checks and it was in the ballpark so I left it alone.

One thing - MFP changed the way it updates the site yesterday so by default it won't give you negative calories. If you want that back, you have to turn it on manually in the settings.

FYI - They just announced today that the Fitbit negative calories setting is now options - you can have it on if you like, or off if you prefer. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/801871-negative-calorie-adjustments-are-now-opt-in

I had an Ormon - the steps were very off for me. Of course every pedometer I have ever tried has been that way. the Fitbit is the first one with reasonable accuracy. I must walk really weird or something.
