Wow, today is Thursday, Thanksgiving Day and boy am I grateful for this good fall weather. . If not I would have not burned off so many calories bicycling this week. This is my fourth time this week. Today I rode for 1 hr and clocked 17 miles. Best this week. Thank God I biked or I would be way over on my calories with Thanksgiving dinner.

Managed to get a few small rides in after work this week but the weather has been awful here in the uk and my lights on the bike were just not up to the job for night time riding in the Oxford area as I think they are too tight to pay for street lights so I have just spent a small fortune on a light which looks like it is better than the ones on my car but is only the size of a cigarette lighter !!

Sorry that something happened to cause the rant, but I just wanted to say that I LOVE fellow cyclists who are more experienced than I am. The few times that I have struggled through the MS 150 bike ride, I have received such great support from the ones like you who are far more experienced than me and in much better shape. When I did it in October, overweight and huffing and puffing up each blasted hill, it was the encouragement from others that kept me going! You guys help us newbies both online and and in the real world, and I appreciate you. I'm hoping to get good enough to join a local cycling club here. I'm loving seeing all of you rack up the miles- it keeps me inspired0 -

I agree keeps me inspired- I don't ask much because I get to sleep with an experienced rider every single night lol he has ridden since 92 and this- (me riding) has been a dream of his for years- I am so proud to be riding now - I just had to come to it on my own in my time. I have to say my dh is so thrilled he bought an old 70something schwinn 3 speed so he could ride with me and not be clipped in- we did our first ride together around the speedway yesterday and it was hard for me but so awesome... I am so thrilled to be able to come here and post my accomplishments- I know they may not be much to some but I am pulling 338 lbs around and believe me they are a LOT lol to me. But I appreciate everyones accomplishments and I appreciate them so much more.

11/11 - 19.2 miles - rode the Erie/Judson trail with my wife. 12.2 ave
11/16 - 32.6 miles - warm and really nice out - 14.1 ave.
11/21 - 31.0 miles - warm and sunny - 13.6 ave.
11/22 - 16.5 miles - rode to my sisters for Thanksgiving. 25 mph winds. - 13.6 ave
11/23 - 6.0 miles - stationary bike - windy and cold outside. 19.8 ave.

I only just stumbled across this thread! LOVE the idea of an off season challenge for my cycling. I ride from March to Sept., but then it gets too cold, wet and dark for me, so I quit. This year I have been planning to set up the thingy inside for my bike, (thingy is the technical term, dontcha know?) but I haven't had time to junk out the basement yet. A challenge would get me there! Are you doing this for December too? I've got to put on another 200k to make 3000 for the year. I'm excited now, I'm gonna do it!0
