You're going to hear a lot of different opinions on this, but I think the right answer is just whatever works for you. If weighing yourself everyday is helpful for you to see every little change in weight then go for it. I know that I personally can't handle stepping on the scale every single day because it will end up stressing me out. I typically weigh myself once, or maybe twice, a week and leave it at that.0

No, i wouldnt weigh urself everyday.. casue ur going to get disappointed because ur weight fluctuates. once a week or even once every two weeks is better. plus once you see that you lost some weight you will be motivated to keep on going. I suggest doing it in the morning after you use the bathroom and before you eat. lol I also suggest measuring every 2 to 6 weeks because sometimes the number on the scale isn't going to matter. you could be losing inches and sill be maintaing the same weight. good luck! It's all what you are comfortable. Daily weights can be rather frustrating for some because of the flucations, but if you can handle that, I say go for it. I weigh myself daily, because I find that it keeps me accountable and also desensitizes me to the scale.0

I weight myself every morning but more for motivation, I only log my weight once I have lost a significant amount (anything over 0.5kg) I know sometimes it will be up and sometimes it will be the same but it just makes me aware if how I am eating and the effect of different exercise on my body. It is completely up to you! When you start becoming obsessed about the scale number is when you have to worry.0

I weigh myself everyday, can't help it. But I get soooo frustrated seeing the yoyo effect - it does tend to make me loose focus. So I would advise not to, once a week should be the main aim! I will try and practice what I preach0

but i think its a personal choice.
i also understand that the scale will change considerably from day to day - and that it shouldnt affect my mood.

I think it depends on the kind of person you are. I weigh myself nearly every morning (but I don't log it daily) because I know that if I don't, I am likely to slide on my eating (here and there). Maybe that will change when I lose more weight, but right now it helps me keep on track.0

I like two options listed :
1. Weigh yourself once a month
2. weigh yourself whenever you want but only log it if youve lost a significant amount

I think its more important to log your food and exercise anyways 4-5x a week of exercise for like 45-60min will change a lot0 -

Absolutely not- it is too discouraging and not good I think for mental health and overall wellbeing. Once a week at the same time is enough and once a fortnight or once a month is probably better.0

I only weigh in once a week, and always as soon as I've been to the toilet after getting up. I find if I do it through the week as well my weight fluctuates depending on what I've eaten the day before.0

i never weight myself. as far as i'm concerned it becomes an obsession and doesn't reflect anything like body fat/muscle gain etc. personally i only use a tape measure or go by my clothes. my PT says according to BMI and scales he is overweight and he has not a bit of fat on him!0

A year ago I would have said "No Way!" Seeing my weight go down a few pounds in a day would be great! But that bump up the following day or two would be devastating That would make me feel bad and when I feel bad I eat.
Yet recently I decided to change to weighing and logging everyday. At first it was disturbing, and then I became a bit addicted to it. Now I can roll with the daily ups and downs and it does seem to help keep me focused on eating and exercising well.
So I think this is a very personal choice. It really depends on how that number will effect you.0 -
It depends on your own personality. I weigh every day and I log it once per month (maintenance); I just don't let the outcome consume me (so to speak). If I'm up, I know it's on me; I've either been making poor choices or gone over on my sodium. For me, it helps keep me in check.

What I do doesn't work for everyone but I weigh every morning after going to the bathroom and before having anything to eat or drink.
I'm sure weigh does fluctuate, but I've usually only ever seen small but consistent losses or maintenance of weight as long as I've been eating right. Starting each day knowing what I weigh works for me because, if I've lost weight I feel great and motivated, if I've maintained I know I need to push a little harder, and if I've gained then it shocks me straight back onto the right track (rather than waiting a whole week to weigh, maybe eating the wrong stuff for a few days in that week and then having to experience a big gain on the scales in one go. On the days where I've overeaten the previous day there might be a 1-2 lb gain, but I find that seeing this small but easily reversible gain straight away allows me to get right back on track. For me personally, waiting all week and then seeing a larger gain would be really demotivating.
It's different for everyone though - I find a 1/2 lb loss overnight really motivating but some people need to bigger 2, 3 or 4lb losses all at once to be really pushed on. So really, my advice is to find what's best for you and do that! Unlike questions regarding very low calorie diets etc, weighing yourself every day isn't going to harm your health so just do what suits you!0 -
I say "no". But I also say "no" to once a week (I do every other week), so what do I know?
You have to decide what's good for you, but know the pros and cons of whichever system you choose.

It depends on you! If your weight tends to fluctuate then I would only weigh yourself once a week. I have a friend who jumps on the scales daily and then feels depressed if her weight has gone up a bit. So my advise would be, do what you feel comfortable with, but once a week would show you any true changes!0

Exactly!! It affects me mentally when I see the way my weight jumps back and forth so I stopped the daily weigh ins and now only do it once a week right after waking up.0 -
I do it everyday, but I dont get dissapointed from flunctuations cause I know why there are happening.0

NO NO NO NO!
1) You're body goes though different processes and by tracking your weight everyday, you're shortchanging yourself as you aren't giving your body time to do what it has to do . if you eat more one day and less another day, it's all going to even out in the week.
2) You're far more likely to become despondent if you aren't getting the results you want, because you aren't giving your body time .3) If you have a problematic history as a person,an addictive personality or have had body issues or eating problems, you're more likely to become obsessive about your weight or to backslide. Often, the backsliding becomes worse than the actual problem. Not only is this bad for you, but a lot of people don't like to be around someone who is obsessing about their weight or body image.It chases people away.
4) You're allowing yourself to become controlled by something instead of being in control of your health.
5) At some stage, depending on what you do, you may start to lose in measurements and not in pounds, which could make you despondent and you don't realise that you are progressing.
6) You can gain in muscle and your "weight" increases, yet you can actually be a smaller size.So, you think that you've regressed, when you have progressed.
7) Most of the people I've ever come across who have done this, have done it when and they've been more problematic or haven't had the right mentality about health and fitness.They've actually needed someone to help them look at things more realistically. There are certain things that people do, that are usually indicators of problems or potential problems.Weighing yourself everyday is often a red flag for that. By the way, I'm NOT saying that EVERYONE has a problem, but it can often become consuming and lead to problems.
Can you weigh yourself every day ?Yes.Should you?No. There are far more negative effects and it can so easily become an obsession or start to control the person.It can become incredible easy to be consumed by it.It's heartbreaking when that happens, because so often they don't see how much they've already achieved.

I weight myself twice a day. First thing in the morning and just before I go to bed. It's not for everyone but I find it let's me know when I'm stuck at a certain weight... It happens every 8-10 days.0
