I joined this site years ago...and left. Mostly because the exercise database and calorie burn calculators were USELESS. 2 years later and I see not much has changed. Ive been trying for an HOUR to get an estimate for 30 day shred - level 3. NO DICE. All I get is "assuming 150lbs" . I dont weight 150lbs so this ...like this site is USELESS

Yep, you're right... none of us are having any success, and it's all this site's fault.

FWIW - I log the Thirty Day Shred as circuit training.

The site is a tool, not a magic wand. I have lost almost 50 pounds since July using this tool.

Have you considered there are so many workouts out there, that it would be impossible to estimate calories for each of these programs. BTW, most JM estimates I see are 250-350. Or you can get a HRM.

Get a good HRM. I loooove mine and from what I can tell - it's much more accurate!

If she had a good HRM, then she'd know her calorie burn and wouldn't be able to use not knowing as an excuse.

^^ THIS!! I've found so many conflicting calorie estimates on various sites, not just here. The only way to find an "accurate" calorie burn is to buy an HRM, since body composition, age, gender, & workout intensity all affect how many calories are burnt during any given exercise.

How'd that weightloss go without using it?

You don't have to use the exercise database. I don't like that it counts lifting weights as burning 0 calories, but I still log my food to see how much I'm taking in. I use a body scanner, so I know what my BMR is and have my goals set it to 450 calories less than that, so even if I don't work out, I should still lose weight (assuming I stay at or below my goal calories). I also use an HRM to see what I've burned at the gym, but I generally don't try to eat the calories back. The circut training option in the database is probably closest though, like was stated above.

do u REALLY NEED to know how many calories you burnt? assuming you only did a 28 min video, you didnt burn hundreds of calories. i only give myself a hundred calories loss, and keep it moving. so what if i burnt 200? its 100cal that i saved. I happen to love this site.
