I've hit a wall ... HELP

I started using MFP last March. I was thrilled with the results, I lost 12 of the 15lbs I was hoping for. I upped my calories to maintain that weight. Over the Summer I gained about 4 lbs back, I lowered my calories back down but I cannot seem to lose the weight. IDEALLY I would like to lose 6-8lbs but I would be happy with 4lbs. I do not currently workout , but I wasn't when I lost the original 2 lbs either. I eat breakfast around 7:30, usually grits, almonds, or a 90 calorie bar (try to stay around 100 calories) Lunch around 11:30 usually a 200 calorie smart ones meal, snack around 2:30 carrots and ranch, almonds, or an apple (try to stay under 100 cals) this all leaves about 800 calories for dinner ... I figure this is where I am messing up bc I usually use all 800. This is the time of day I get hungry. I usually have potatoes and some form of chicken breast or pork loin. ANY ADVICE?

I don't know your stats, but for me (a 5'7" female) 1200 calories per day is fat too little. You don't mention exercise...unless you are completely sedentary you probably aren't eating enough to fuel your day to day activities. I lost 10 pounds on 1200 calories then plateaued for almost 2 months. After I upped my calories to 1400, weight started coming off again a couple weeks later. As long as you are in a calorie deficit, you won't gain weight.

Again, your post is light on details so I am speculating, but my first inclination is to guess that you aren't eating enough.

I also try to save all my calories for dinner. that is when I get hungry.. sounds like you are doing everything right - just make sure to drink a lot of water - and watch sodium. maybe for a while switch up potatoes and have some vegetables with the chicken breast.

I am 5'6 and started around 133lbs I got down to 121lbs and Im sitting at 126lbs now. The 1200 calories was the MFP suggestion I got. I am a teacher so although Im not highly active I do spend a lot of time standing and moving around my classroom. I will try to up to 1,400 calories for a few weeks and see what happens.I'm also going to start 30DS again after I recover from surgery in Jan. although I did not lose weight or inches the difference I saw in the mirror was staggering! THANK YOU!
  • Thanks! I dont drink much of anything but when I do 85% of the time it is splenda milos tea, 10% water, 5% dr pepper haha. Im a very picky eater ... potatoes is about the only veggie Ill eat :/
