High protein before workout

I had lunch about 45 mins ago and it had 39 grams of protein. Now Im about to do a workout. My goals are to lose fat and gain muscle. I know to lose weight you want your body to use your fat store for energy, so Im just wondering if having a high amount of protein right before a workout is gonna kinda sabotage using the fat stores for energy and will instead use up the protein.

Protein is better after a workout, as it helps to repair your muscles. For one workout, it wont make any difference.0

Ya I knew that, I usually have a protein shake right after a workout. But today I already had my lunch, before I planned on going to workout.0

1) substrate utilization during the training bout really isn't anything you need to be concerned about. You're still burning calories and this still contributes to your calorie deficit.
2) That pre workout meal will probably still be providing your muscles with amino acids well into the post workout period.
If you prefer, you could do it this way daily and be just fine provided your training isn't effected negatively.0 -
It doesn't really matter. the anabolic window is 24 to 48 hours and the most important thing is that you hit your macros. Timing is debatable at best.0

I take protein shake before lifting to account for digestion time and do cardio for 20 mins at the end of lifting.0 -
Makes perfect sense, thanks guys.0

Theoretically, if you want to burn fat stores before a workout, it is better to eat protein pre-workout, instead of carbs. For fuel, your body needs sugar. Carbs are the easiest way for your body to get sugar. By eating carbs pre-workout, your body will turn to these for fuel first, then when they run low, it will turn to fat stores. Protein is harder for your body to create energy from, that's why low carb dieters usually suffer with their energy levels.
I like to workout first thing, after I wake up, so I usually skip the carbs pre-workout. Every time I have eaten a good carbohydrate before my workout, I feel sluggish during my workout. I think it is because I don't give it time to digest, and do its work. I always take protein before a workout, though, in order to maintain muscle mass.
(Many of these things I mentioned, may have been debunked as "Myths". I don't know. They work for me, so I follow them.0
