Does anyone have any tips on eating healthy in the dorms in college? I find it difficult because I can't cook and I'm on a strict budget! I've been struggling so much and I've put on significant weight in the past two years since living on campus. Any advice would be much appreciated!

When you say you can't cook, does that mean you don't have access to a full kitchen? Do you have a meal plan?
What I did when I lived in the dorms was to buy healthy foods that didn't require much cooking, even if they did require microwaving. I loaded up on peanut butter sandwiches, cold cuts (as long as they were healthy and didn't have so much added salt and preservatives), fresh fruit and vegetables, frozen vegetables, canned soups (as long as they were healthy), microwavable Lean Cuisine meals, salads, etc.0 -
I opted out of the meal plan at my school and but a mini fridge + my own groceries once a week. Since that's not an option for you stick to drinking water/milk (no liquid calories from pop, juice, etc) and replace one meal a day (lunch/dinner) with a large salad that uses reduced fat dressing. Try not to snack in between meals or while studying, if so, eat a piece of fruit. Plan one MEAL of the week where you're going to eat something you really crave, like a slice of pizza or a burger.0

Can/do you have a mini-fridge in your dorm? Stock it with greek yogurt, cottage cheese, berries, veggies, hummus. Keep peanut butter, whole wheat bread/tortillas, fruit, nuts, granola bars, canned tuna... in your room. All you need to make oatmeal is a kettle. If you have a microwave you can buy the steamed veggie packs. Also, "healthy" t.v dinners but I'm not a fan(not filling to me)
In the cafeteria, just make smart choices. Salads, grilled meats, whole wheat pastas..etc. Obviously, I don't know what your school serves, but there's always a way to make a good choice.0 -
Yep I have a fridge! The only problem is I don't have access to a grocery store unless I go home and my fridge isn't really that big. But thank you all for your suggestions! I do have a meal plan and I get two meals a day for 5 days and on the weekends I usually have to buy something to eat.0
