What are some must haves when you go to the grocery strore? I'm only talking about healthy stuff that have helped you on your weight loss journey

    Chicken or turkey, stock cubes (to cook the chicken in), avocado, baby leaf salad, red wine.
  • 1. Salad ingredients (lettuce, spinach, peppers, tomatoes, and any other fresh veggies I'm craving)
    2. Tofu
    3. Hummus
    4. Low-Fat greek yogurt (plain and vanilla)
    5. Beans (canned and dried)
    6. Almond milk
    7. Whatever vegetables are in season...

    Things I always have in my fridge or cupboard

    Kale or romaine lettuce
    Cucumbers
    Baby carrots
    Grape tomatoes
    Red, orange and yellow peppers
    Pork loin chops
    Ground chicken
    Salsa
    Cottage Cheese
    Greek yogurt
    12 grain bread
    Bananas
    Apples
    Shredded mozzarella cheese
    Canned tuna
    Berries
    Frozen broccoli and frozen mixed veg
    Eggs!
    Peanut butter
    Whole wheat english muffins
    Nuts (almonds, walnuts, pistachios..)

    ETA: Potatoes!

    Good lord, how could I forget broccoli?
    If I had a girlfriend, she'd accused me of having an affair with broccoli. Every meal is served with a whole head of broccoli. Sometimes more. I eat a lot of broccoli.

    Veggies that can be eaten raw (baby carrots, cucumbers, celery etc)

    Every list starts with:

    bottled water
    salad makings
    carrots
    fruit
    superhummus
    yogurt
    egg beaters
    chicken
    ground turkey

    the rest pretty much varies depending on what the planned meals are for the week.

    vegetables. anything on sale, cucumbers, tomatoes, mushrooms, green beans, broccoli, spinach, mixed salad greens.

    apples, bananas, berries (ALWAYS berries!) fruit on sale

    organic milk, greek yogurt or cottage cheese, almond butter

    organic meat if it's on sale, hamburger, steaks, fish, chicken.

    virgin coconut oil for sauteeing, or organic butter.

    go to condiments are sriracha, light soy sauce (only kikkoman, generic brands are terrible), cinnamon, freshly ground pepper.

    i also have protein powder on hand, spirutein brand, chocolate peanut butter (even better with PB2 mixed in) and chai latte (even better with bulletproof vanilla mixed in)

    obviously the lean meats and fruits and veggies but things that helped me not feel deprived:

    Thomas bagel Thins
    Laughing cow cheeses
    Healthy Life 35 cal bread
    Sara Lee buns 80cal
    Sandwich Thins
    egg beaters ( on occasion)
    turkey bacon
    Edy's slow churned 1/2 fat ice cream (i swear by it for a sweet treat)
    Skinny cow ice cream treats and candys (for an occasional treat)
    canned pumpkin (in place of egg and oil in cake mix)

    Boar's Head Ovengold turkey (cold cuts for lunches)
    Flavored tuna packets and tuna salad kit with crackers (lunches)
    Apples, oranges, bananas, and whatever berries are on sale
    broccoli (to steam)
    asparagus or brussels sprouts (to roast)
    chicken breasts
    pork loin
    greek yogurt
    laughing cow cheese
    light string cheese
    eggs
    light wheat bread
    fat free low sodium chicken and beef broth (to use as bases in cooking instead of oil and butter)

    ETA I also always have Skinny Cow or Weight Watchers ice cream bars on hand, and sometimes sugar free pudding cups for when I need something sweet. The boyfriend loves them too.

    Hummus, broccoli, red pepper, red onions and green onions, spinach, greek yogurt, coffee, almond milk, oatmeal, bananas, apples, eggs, cheese if on sale, dark chocolate bar, wraps, turkey deli meat, herb and garlic cream cheese, avocado, and ingredients for whatever my "make ahead and freeze" meal of the week is.
