30DS -- YIKES!!

Okay, I managed to fool myself into thinking I was getting stronger. Then today I did the first workout on the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. I thought I was going to puke, then die. I actually had to stop twice to breathe. I'm ashamed of that, but proud that I at least started up again and finished, even if it was a limp, pukey finish. Please tell me that someone else had this much trouble starting out and managed to keep going?? I'm a little afraid I'm not up to this, especially when it comes to the two other levels getting much harder.

Yep when I started I thought I was gonna die. It doesn't help that I keep stopping and starting again. My advice is just get through it as best you can, if you have to take a breather, do that but get to the end somehow. Keep doing it. That's the only way it gets easier.0

if this process was easy, everyone would be doing it
just keep doing it0 -
When it comes to these work outs just do what you can...you'll progressively get better, be able to do more...I don't know about that particular program, but I know that in some of the others I've seen people much leaner and more fit than myself are taking breaks too while the program continues on...so I wouldn't feel too bad, when you have to worry, is when it gets easy. Workouts should be hard...if its easy you won't see the results.0

I just started 30DS on the 1st, the cardio portion was fine, its the strength portion that I struggle with like push ups and lunges. My goal is to get the form right so the exercise is effective. Just keep going your endurance will get better over time!0

This! I'm on Level 2 now but those Level 1 push ups where killer. But yesterday I was able to do 2 regular, unmodified push ups! This is something I've never been able to do even when I was a much fit and younger person. So, yes, strength and endurance will get better!0 -
It can be demotivating when you feel you're not performing well, so it's nice when you feel something's getting easier. Obviously you want to continue to challenge yourself so you move on from there, but when I start something like 30DS and I can hardly do any of it, its upsetting to me. As I progress it gets easier. I'm not saying you should stop at that point!0

That's excellent! I can't do the unmodified yet, either. I'm looking forward to getting strong enough to do that.0 -

That's absolutely how I felt. I've been working really hard doing a lot of cardio at the gym, but I was ignoring the strength training, which is why I started the 30DS. I'm happy to hear that someone else experienced that little bit of demoralization. I'm not going to give up, though! Thanks to everyone for the supportive words.0 -
I have just done two days, feeling pretty sore and currently trying to gee myself up to do day 3!!! I have trouble with the jumping jacks, i always have to drop to marching it out instead for last part of that section. Also I haven't done exercise like this for years so I decided to do it without any weights until I feel stronger. I was amazed that my muscles really feel 'worked' despite the lack of weights. This is going to be a big tester to keep going :ohwell:0

DON'T GIVE UP. It DOES get easier. I started out the same way. Felt like I was going to DIE and then could hardly move for like 3 days after the first day. Had to do that move where you go to sit down to pee and get halfway sitting and just have to drop because your legs hurt SO bad. .... I've done strictly Jillian with cardio and better food choices and have made a lot of progress this year. You CAN do it don't give up. Here's some links to my blog posts ... there are 30DS posts on it.

Don't fret. I almost puked, cried, passed out, etc the first time I did it. Now I breeze through level 3 with 8-pound weights, and this was only in a matter of months. It will get easier!!0

I just started today and it was reallyyyy hard but I'm pretty excited about it. I think it's pretty motivating and I can't wait to see the results! :happy:0
