As a healthcare professional I am not convinced any meal replacements are healthy. Protein powders are sold as a convenient supplement to a balanced diet, they work really well if you use them to make a smoothie or shake with your own healthy real food ingredients - essential fats, fresh fruit, live yoghurt etc.0

I use EAS carb control...
I'm on a low carb diet, but they are also low in calories (usually 100-120) and they are packed with protein... I only drink them as a breakfast meal replacement, but I find that it does keep me full until lunch.0 -
I like Muscle Milk...you can get a "light" version and they are available just about anywhere you shop.0

With a blender shaker you can whip one up from the powder basically anywhere you have access to water. Opens up your options significantly.0

I usually make my own with Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey protein powders, but in a pinch, I like the Core Power protein shakes. In particular, the light strawberry banana. 150 calories and 20 grams of protein. It doesn't taste artificial.0

justt take powder and mix it yourself.
everything I've read has led me to believe that the ready to drink shakes aren't nearly as good. they have to be processed a certain way to meet standards, and the protein is no longer useable.
buy whey powder.0 -
I usually use EAS AdvantEdge, but I mix it with PB2, a frozen banana and cinnamon for a smoothie in the morning.0

Premier Nutrition from Costco. 30g protein, 160 calories. But I usually use protein powder - Body Fortress, which I buy at WalMart. 26 g protein, 140 calories.0

I've been using Raw Meal Replacement... It's all organic and vegan, no artificial colors or flavors... and has more vitamins than you even knew exhisted! However... it doesn't taste great... but worth it for the healthiness of it... but warning... only use 1 scoop... believe me that's all you will want... and mix with juice... believe it will taste a million times.0

I agree with some here that the already made ones aren't as beneficial. I just started a protein powder by Syntrax called Nectare Sweets in Chocolate truffle flavor. It's a whey protein isolate....no carbs no fat no sugar, lactose, gluten and aspartame free. It's 25 calories per 1/4 scoop 40mg sodium and 23g protein per scoop. I mix it with unsweetened almond milk and I like it a lot0

In your opinion which protein shakes (already made) are the best?
ie, Atkins, Slimfast....
None, the pasteurization process breaks down the whey isolates, rendering them useless.0 -

As others have posted, there are some downsides to getting the already mixed stuff, Sodium is one in this case. ;o0 -
True! It all depends on how much sodium you plan on in taking from other stuff. (:

I have a Muscle Milk Light (only chocolate, vanilla tastes nasty) after a workout if I'm not going to eat dinner in the next 15 minutes or so. I eat regular food most of the time but I need to get something into me right after a workout. If I do my workout, then putter around the kitchen, then check email, then shower and then eat dinner, I will overeat dinner.0
