Nasty tasting "bucket" sized container protein powder???

I bought a 2 pound container of vanilla flavored protein powder and I just cannot stand the taste. I have tried masking it with fruits, torani syrups, flavored coffee screamer, even flavored extracts but it still just tastes so horrible. Any ideas as opposed to throwing it away and wasting all that money? Plus I am not reaching my protein macros every day.

what brand did you buy??0

Add some ice cream to it0

Have you tried it with milk?0

There is a recipe on here for Protein Mug Cake that is super good, and I make homemade protein bars. I'll try and find that recipe.0

just use 1/4 to 1/2 a scoop instead of a full scoop. It does take a bit to get use to. I use mine as a coffee creamer but have to mix with a little bit of water first to dissolve and then still have to add a sweetener.0

Ice cream
Peanut butter and banana
Milk0 -
could just suck it up, and drink it. Chase it with a better tasting beverage.0

For me?
Vanilla protein powder
Almond milk
A little vanilla syrup
and Orange energy drink powdered mix.
DREAMSICLE with a caffeine kick.0 -
Try it with chocolate. Chocolate is pretty awesome for covering up bad flavors.0
-
Give it to someone.0
-
mix it with non fat milk
add it to ice
1c plain non fat greek yogurt
10 frozen strawberries
BLEND. BLEND. BLEND.

Good advice here already here, I am just repeating
- try smaller scoops to get use to it
-add it to Ice cream milkshakes! Chocolate, peanut butter, frozen berries.....
- use a protein recipe for the boards here
-if you don't get use to it, give it someone
-look for single serving sample packs of the different protein powders, most health food stores have single serving packs to try the different ones.
I have found the Jay Robb egg white in vanilla to be my go-to pantry staple, but I use one called Aria for women , sometimes in a pinch.0 -
could just suck it up, and drink it. Chase it with a better tasting beverage.
this is what I do...it's not fun but it's necessary0 -
Peanut butter and banana kills all tastes0

Mix a half scoop on your oatmeal.
Protein pancakes.
Protein fluff.
The list goes on....
Google some protein powder recipes. You don't just have to drink it.
Protein powder is an acquired taste.0 -
Put it in a smoothie, bake with it, make pancakes with it.......milk and peanut butter0
-
Rule of thumb with Protein shakes. Chocolate always taste better......also mix it with milk0

Bin it. Life is too short to eat foul tasting protein. I can't get on with a UK brand, Nutrisport. Literally makes me gag.
One place it'll go quickly and easily is eBay. Bay it!0 -
Yeah nutrisport is just THE worst! It's just got this really weird taste to it. By far the nastiest I've bought!0

I was using Bariatric Advantage in Vanilla, Chocolate, Orange Dream, and Iced Latte. Of a couple of brands I tried, the BA had the best flavor and texture. I blend some of them with NF milk and some with water and ice. I've been drinking them 2-3 times a day for 2 months (every day. I had RNY on 10/15/2012). About 2 weeks ago I bought some Pure Protein Vanilla shakes (in cans) at GNC and have fallen in love with it. The Chocolate is also good - and they have 35 grams protein per can. I drink about 1 1/2 - 2 cans a day. Now when I drink the Bariatric Advantage I smell (and taste) the Whey protein isolate. Pure Protein has whey protein also, but the taste is masked so much better. They sell Pure Protein at WalMart but it only has 23 grams of protein - I don't know why they difference. I also bought a 2 lb tub of UNFLAVORED whey protein at GNC and I haven't been able to stomach it. It has a distinct taste and smell. Sorry to say it gags me. I wanted to use it to boost protein content of things like oatmeal, cream of wheat, soups, sauces, whatever. I can't use it so I am going to donate it though a Yahoo group I belong to.0

Honestly I had a similar experience when I decided to try a different brand (also with a vanilla powder), even the smell when I opened the jar was rank, like baby formula...I tried it so many different ways, even tried to cook with it, but its taste was in everything, so I chucked it in the end, I was wasting more money on trying to mask its god-awful taste and make it useable anyway.0

I use Unjury protein. It's a little pricey but IMO is the highest quality made on the market. It tastes great, but I dope it with other things like low acid orange juice, banana, etc.0

If its that bad, chunk it, you won't eat it, and will end up just adding more calories and sugar to it, negating its purpose to start with.
I use My Fit Foods Vanilla, low carbs, taste great.0 -
I bought gross powder once and I used it for baking,0
-
Protein pumpkin pie, or protein banana bread, protein pancakes.... basically, cook with it. lol0
-
what brand did you buy??
Pure Protein Whey Powder Vanilla Cream (walmart special. I should have known...)0 -
Have you tried it with milk?
I use almond milk to save on carbs0 -
Add some ice cream to it
I did this. Actually used vanilla frozen yogurt. Still fricken gross!0
