I need hair help. Seriously.
So, I just got a haircut that I'm not happy with. At all. I got it for free, so I maybe shouldn't complain, but I'm not okay with it. At all.
Basically, I have about 1 inch of hair growth left on the back of my head, and the rest of my hair looks like Titanic-era Leonardo DiCaprio.
I don't have much hair to work with. Does anybody out there have some helpful style suggestions? Please, and thanks.

Shave it all off and start over. Get some hats.0

There's a possibility I might be interviewing for a grad school position in the coming 2-3 months. My hair grows fast- it doesn't grow that fast.0

Go to the vitamin section and get some Biotin. It will aid in thickening and encourage faster growth. Will do the same thing to your nails.0

Get some of the hair skin and nail vitamins and take those. Also, use the deep scalp conditioners. This will help it to grow not super fast, but faster than usual. Also, go to a hairstylist and pay for a cut. Anne Hathaway looks cute with her really short do. It will be much more flattering than a leo dicaprio cut.0

Biotin, and wig maybe for the interview?0 -
Ive done this. When i saw myself in the mirror i cried and asked for some alcohol, immediatley! i found that bed Head makes some great styling products for short hair. Just get some of their texturing paste, rub it in and go. The messy look is ALWAYS super cute!0

go to a real hair stylest and get your money's worth out of a STYLE and tell her she needs to explain to you exactly how to fix it ... other than that your hair is what it is and time is your only friend to get rid of it0

slick it all back like emma watson does with her new short hair - its GORGEOUS !! if i could add a photo i would............. please do see google ;D0

My hair is already obnoxiously thick. If it grows in any thicker, it might take on a life of its own and terrorize a small town.0

Hats... lots of hats. 2 -3 months your hair should be grown out enough to do more with it.0 -
Can U load a pic so we can see exactly what you're talkin bout..?0

Biotin gave me acne. I have used an love Country Maxi hair vitamins. I get them off amazon for $11.00 they have biotin in them but also have MSM in th which helps my hair growth an silica too. I've noticed accelerated growth from taking bamboo caps because bamboo is a form of silica.0

I am also interviewing for jobs right now so I now how important it is to your self esteem to look good. Is it too short to get extensions? If your not happy with the length, that is a temporary quick fix. It might just be a shock if your used to your hair being a certain length, you may just need time to adjust. You can also check out pintrest, they usually have styling tips, se link and good luck with your interview!

Without really seeing what the cut looks like, I think it's hard to give any advice on how to style it right now. But the advice that's been given about the biotin and investing in some cute hats is really the best thing at this point...
It's tough having a bad hair cut, been there. If you can find a reputible stylist, definately make an appointment and see what he/she can do for you. If they're really good, they'll line up future appointments with you to help the process as it grows out so you don't end up with a bad grow out (which can be as nasty as the bad hair cut that started it all).
Good luck!0 -
Take a pic and let me see what it looks like, then I can help you work with it, front and back if you can.0

You could go for hair extensions. That way you'd have your hair at something longer till it grows out. The other option, go ask for a Master stylist and tell her what happened. Ask her to create a short haircut that will grow out looking nice. If you pay for the more experienced stylist you'll get the help you need. Call the salon and indicate you need someone REALLY experienced to take care of a disaster of a cut and the person must be creative and experienced.

I second this. Also, color is another way to change a hairdo, so there might be some options there that will make you like it more.0 -
Find a headband or barette with a bit of sparkle in it. I have some for those days!0

get some cute hair accessories like headbands or sparkly clips and try and make the best of it until it grows out.
When I was in the 7th grade my mother had some woman come to the house to cut my hair. I had long, thick, curly hair down to a few inches above my elbow. I wanted layers put in to give it some shape and lift. When this woman was done I went in my room and wouldnt come out. She gave me a weird mullet hair cut that made the top of my head look like a head of lettuce with long pieces in the back. It was truly traumatizing. That was in the summer and I had 5 weeks to school. The top was so short I couldnt do anything except flatten it with bobby pins. As it grew out, I got teased and called poodle head because my hair was so curly. It took a full year before I could even straighten it to make it look better then another year before it completely grew in so I could wear my hair curly again.
Trust me, I sympathize. Once it starts growing in go to a professional. It took me 6 years before I trusted anyone at all to cut my hair.0 -

Yes! Let us see a picture! You may be able to do something super cute with it, maybe like a short pixie hair cut?0 -
Horrrible hair flashback!! Bite the bullet and go to a high quality salon and ask them to help you out . It will be pricey but worth it. Check out reviews online if you don't know of a good salon. Also, get your hair styled at the salon for the interview.
Good luck, and remember that most people don't care about your hair like you do and will probably not even notice.:flowerforyou:0 -
I'm planning to go to a stylist, but I was hoping to get some style ideas so that I can better articulate what I'm looking for. However, one of the reasons I got this haircut on the cheap is because this town doesn't really do experienced stylists and reputable salons. Most salons here are a revolving door, which is why I wanted to come in with some idea of what I want.
Also, I don't do supplements, and that's at the demand of my physician.0 -
you're probably in shock - you may grow to like it in a few days. It will appear to grow really quickly (optical illusion of 1cm on 5 cm will appear longer than 1cm growth on 20 cm - does that make sense?) which is why short hair has to be cut so much more often as style grows out really quickly.
I've had short, pixie cuts and been fine - i.e got used to them. I remember the first time leaving a salon (leaving my boyfriend to pay) because i was so distraught - bought loads of hair products and was trying to make it better in the toilets of a cafe. Some girls had seen me, overhead the conversation and told me I looked great. That helped. Worst though was when a hairdresser (who was hungover from a 'torture party' the night before - I didn't ask...) gave me a tiny fringe but left the sides long and I looked like I was about to have a lobotomy but it did grow out eventually). Although now I don't mind how much current hairdresser cuts off the rest of my head as long as she leaves me with long hair around my face...
Also having shorter hair is a good incentive to lose weight and keep that jawline nice and sleek! embrace it!0 -
Bobby pins and great styling products will be your best friend. Last year, I decided to cut 12 inches off of my hair on a whim. The first haircut looked awful (very Leo in the front and Pat Benetar in the back) and its the only time I've cried over a haircut. I have really thick hair too and I just looked like a big, poofy mess.I had it fixed by the manager of the salon. She actually ended up cutting the front shorter to match the back and thinned out some sections so it was easier to style. After that, I loved the cut, which makes growing it out much easier. I think morenita71 is right though, you're in shock.0

I kinda like the slanted side part that I see on a lot of short cuts.
Try any image searches yet? There's a ton of stuff for all kinds of hair.
