Calorie intake?

So everyday when im done logging my foods and exercise, I always find that it is hard for me to intake the minimum 1,200 calories you need a day. I usually average 900-1000. Is that bad? Should i force myself to eat more? I am just not hungry.

1200 calories is not hard to achieve. Eat real food, yogurt, cheese, eggs, avocado, nuts, peanut butter, oils are easy ways to add some calories.0

It is for some people. I personally have a small stomach, and 300 calories is a huge meal for me.0 -

Have you spoken to a doctor about only being able to eat around 600 calories a day? You realise that isn't normal don't you? There must be something wrong.0 -

It's more difficult when you're the fussiest eater in the entire world and don't like eating anything that takes time to make :P0 -
Unless youre eating cucumbers and lettuce all day, its pretty easy to rack up the calories quickly.
As people have mentioned, stuff with healthy fat like nuts, nut butter, avocado,and olive oil are an easy way of adding calories without adding too much volume to your meals.
Also snacking throughout the day helps, rather than trying to eat all your calories in just 3 meals.0 -

My mother tells me that even when I was a baby, I would only have half the amount of milk that a normal baby would, and if I had any more I would throw it up because there wasn't enough room for it.0 -
your body NEEDS at least 1200 calories to even function the right way. Especially for women. If not, your body will go into starvation mode and you wont lose any weight.0

This is not true. When I was losing weight, I was at 1051 cals per day, took me 10 weeks to lose 10 lbs-very safe and healthy. I have been in maintenance since Jan. I now eat 1561 cals per day have not gained any weight back and have lost a significant amount of body fat-eating right and working out hard!0 -
Of course, I do recommend trying to fit some extra calories in for the OP

Instead of eating a larger quantity, just choose foods more dense in nutrients/calories. Almonds, olives, avocados, steak, whole eggs, cheeses, whole milk, etc.
That way your will help I sure your body gets the proteins and good fats it needs to function, build muscle, and lose fat...and your stomach won't feel overly stuffed.0 -

I almost never eat my 300 calorie meal in one sitting, it usually happens in bits and bites over a 2 hour period.0 -

It could have been reflux, I can't exactly remember back then xD But I have had a small stomach capacity for as long as I can remember.0 -

I don't understand how people have this magic number that EVERYONE must eat. Some people just don't like food that much & CAN be ok on that. Not everyone feels the need to have peanut butter or nuts (those that are allergic cant) and not everyone can have some of the other things suggested. Those with gluten problems cant eat a whole heap of 'normal' things either. ALl of this greatly reduces what people can eat.

Hi! I started a1200 calorie diet 6 days ago, I am always lower too.
That red warning on the bottom at the end of the day totals is scary!
I am not hungry either! I am eating a lot! Tomorrow is my weigh in!0 -
Are you using scales and measuring cups? When i first started here I thought I was eating good and couldn't figure out why I wasn't losing turns out I had no idea what a portion was. I started weighing properly and faithfully and realized I was eating wayyyyy too much.0

Sorry--2 gulps of olive oil and an egg isn't a large meal. If you wanted to fit the calories in you would. Period.
Other examples:
1 scoop protein (130), 12 oz 1% milk (165), 1 banana (100), 2 tbsp pb (190) = 585 calories in a smoothie!
2 oz nuts (320 ) paired with 2 oz cheese (200) = 520 calories (not a HUGE meal by any means)
1/4 cup hummus (140) w/ 1 large pita (200) and 4oz grilled chicken/fish/etc (~120) = 460
1 cup full fat yogurt (200+ calories) w/ 1 serving granola (200) = 400 calories0 -

Wow. Well, a handful of nuts is effortless. As is a yogurt (Full fat) or a cup of milk (full fat). If you wanted to do it you would.0 -

Well for me it was not exercising AT ALL , drinking coke all day every day & drinking booze all day every day. I barely ate. Not hard to put it on when you put more in than you burn off & not working out will do that.0 -
I think that sometimes it's hard for big eaters to understand small eaters, which can lead them to basically saying "just eat more", which doesn't work. The meals suggested to me here as easy to fit in actually look really, REALLY huge to me- I'd have to spread something like that out over a whole day :P0

No one here is really saying eat more food, eat the amount of foods, but choose ones with more proteins, more good fats, and more good calories.
Like other have said, you can take 2 hours to eat. Handful of nuts and couple cheese cubes and get your 400+ calories and not stuff yourself in One sitting.
People who want more calories will try for more calorically dense food (and keep with the same number of bites taken a day)
Others prefer their low numbers but I stead of just sayin " I like my numbers low, SO will choose the apple over the avocado every time even if the avocado fils me the same." They just repeat excuses that have already been rebutted.
Just say you like you calorie number and eat that way if you want. It's your life, eat what you want if that the nutrients you want forming your body.0 -

Your ticker says you have about 70 some odd pounds to lose. You eat about 900-1000 calories a day. How tall are you? Do you know your TDEE? Your BMR?? How active are you??
What were you eating before to gain the weight? Was it still 900-1000 calories a day?
