I AM FAT BECAUSE.......
Replies
-
Because when I was a child my parents never taught me about proper food choices and ate out all the time. As I got older I continued to eat in the manner that I had known as a kid, despite learning the proper ways through nutrition classes in health class. I continued to make bad food choices and loved the taste of food! Hell, I still love the taste of food! I now just have a better understanding of food and it's relationship in my life. It's there for my survival, not my emotional comfort!0

-Emotional eating
-lack of exercise past grade school
-too many 'quick fixes' where I lost a lot then gained that plus more back.
-emotional eating
-lazy
-fat and out of shape gave me joint problems and poor cardio health, making it harder to exercise.
-impulse and immediate satisfaction over long term happiness and health
Its a vicious cycle and I'm fighting my way out of it.0 -
Because, I was lazy, selfish, addicted to food, depressed, and had no willpower...0

I would only eat once or twice a day.
I would eat too much at dinner because I was starving by 7pm at night.
I was unknowingly making myself sick by eating wheat products (I found out I have Celiac Disease).
I was drinking too much caffiene and not enough water.0 -
In order of greatest to least:
I eat too much food
I drink too much booze
I don't exercise enough
I don't get enough sleep
I am overstressed
Simple as that.
Very well said.0 -
I ate when I wasn't hungry.

I consistently ate over TDEE.
Now, I did that because <insert excuse here>.0 -
I adore food, I eat too much of it.
I don't move enough.
I don't digest easily.
But I'm working on it!0 -

I can say things like "I stress eat." or "I wasn't active" or "I like pasta/potatoes too much."
But really, what it comes down to is this....
I made too many excuses to not make the good and correct decisions about my health for too long
But not anymore!0 -
I am not determine to finish what I start
I dont get enough sleep and stressing too much
I have sweet teeth
but I will not be fat because I am on the right track now.0 -

Me too...and it only took me 3 tries to post!0 -
After I got out of school I had no reason to stay exercising, I didn't have practices I HAD to be at and participate in (I played sports year round in high school and college) and I continued eating as if I could eat what ever I wanted and not have to worry about it. I continued this way then I got pregnant and it was my excuse to eat what ever I wanted and OVER indulge as well. I am also an emotional eater. I get upset, bored, sad ect. I eat A LOT. It's a vicious never ending cycle.0

I love food and I love to eat it. Especially Taco Bell, I know a lot of people think it's nasty but I love it.0

I could easily blame my parents for be being as huge as I am.. I got my bad habits from them. But, there comes a time in your life when you take ownership of your own choices and I could have said no at any point! I've taken my life back with the help of this site and a few very supportive friends including the love of my life. I'm happy! The results will come but I have been given the choice and it's very liberating
Cheers!0 -
although I eat very healthily, I have a major problem with portion control, not to mention a weakness for wine!
Me too.0 -
I had no control - absolutely zero - over what my hands put in my mouth! I had self esteem issues and was convinced I would always be fat because it was what I deserved.
But, NO MORE !!!!0 -
I ate to overcome my depression, and mainly to cover my stress and not knowing good food habits.0

I used to teach Jazzercise 3 to 4 days a week and run 5 miles on the alternate days. Then in 1999 I had my left hip replaced, retiring as an instructor, but still eating like I was teaching. Bad move.0

I used to try to eat the same amount as my 6'2" dad when I was a kid (bread & butter, large prime rib, salad, potato, + dessert) and built those fat cells early.
Plus I would eat vanilla ice cream and hot fudge late at night with him most nights.
I never had a healthy relationship with food because my role models did not either.
My mom rarely cooked, so I never learned to cook healthy. I only knew how to bake and would bake brownies often because you could just follow the directions on the box.
I ate a lot of canned chili and clam chowder (now they say that the BPA in the can's lining can make us fat).
Birth control made me gain a lot of weight.
When I went to college I was out of control and ate because of the stress/constant deadlines & pressure.
I have been binging on In and Out burger trying to fill some emptiness but I cannot seem to figure out what it is. I think it is because my parents raised me to be perfect and I am not perfect and I need to learn to be okay with that.0 -
I've had 3 children and pregnant with the 4th. But in between, I got lazy, and ate and drank 3000 calories a day, easily, with a semi sedentary life.
I'm a huge boredom eater, and kept snacks in the house. Then I would mindlessly eat at the computer, or watching TV
I like bread, and pasta. While not necessarily a downfall, it's definitely not always the best diet to have.
Oh, and let's not forget portion distortion.0 -
I was an emo-eater (Working on that)
I am lazy. Honestly. If you give me a choice to either sleep in, or go running, I will pick sleep. (Working on that)
I work too much, and am what they call a "super commuter" (drive more than 2 hours a day for work).
I love the good stuff. Good food, good wine, good beer, decadent chocolate.
Learning to achieve balance is the goal, now.0 -
I like to eat at buffets and take naps.0
-
I am 100% a comfort eater! If I could stop giving in to comfort food all the time, I would be at my goal!0
