Getting hit on at the gym

There will always be men looking to find women at the gym.
Women understand this, and most have on ipods/earpieces to look unapproachable.
They still do though!0 -
i'm fast and flirty so there is NEVER an inappropriate time to flirt, except maybe during that person's wedding
and earpieces arent really a deterrent if a guy wants to talk to you. he'll just wait for you to take them out :laugh:0 -
You never know where you could meet your mr. or mrs. right. If I wasn't married and someone started chatting me up at the gym and asked for a date I wouldn't say no just because we meet in a gym.0

I think that it depends on the approach. It's obvious that you two have something in common if you're both there. However, when I go to the gym, I am there to workout. The girls at my gym that get hit on are usually the ones that come in with their hair done, make up on and barely any clothes...that would not be me haha
@shiraLA - I totally agree with you, and I guess that I shouldn't be judgemental. Girls that dress up to the gym are a distraction.0 -
Obviously people are checking each other out in the gym, its just nature. Some will be open to the approach and others will not. If you're good at reading body language you'll know which ones are "projecting availability". Once you're good at spotting that then you don't need the gym to meet people. They're just about everywhere. :bigsmile:0

master,
please teach me your knowledge XD
dude , im engaged but that sounded so professional0 -
I'm in my own world when I'm at the gym...not a social place for me.0

INDEED
with that said, there is a dude at my gym who wears a tshirt proclaiming : I AM A BEAST. I believe he is trying to project his availability. Prob can't lift anything heavy. I can't bench him, but certainly could leg press him. I can hook you up : )0 -
So i think this guy hit on me the other day at the gym but im really shy and i didnt really know what to say. Do you have any suggestions on what i could say if i see him again? Something from a guys perspective maybe.
I'm not sure about a guy's perspective, but he could get to the gym right when you are on your last treadmill mile, so I wouldn't be ready with more than "hi" and a big smile.
Don't worry about being sweaty. It's a gym! Sweaty means you are kicking it. Just mention how much you enjoyed your workout and are looking forward to your SHOWER and make light, but direct, non-stalker eye contact. He will magically think about you in the SHOWER. He can't help it. All that warm water running down a soapy, slippery, body...0 -
When I worked out at a gym, I always wore my headphones and tried to look unapproachable. I never got hit on but I got lots of guys checking me out. Now when I run outside, I smile and head nod at all the other runners. LOL
The worse was early one Saturday morning I went to the gym, ran like 5 miles, lifted and had to stop at K-Mart on the way home. I hadn't taken a shower cuz I was gonna run in, grab some face wash & head home. I looked like a mess, not even a hot mess. And some ghetto dude is trying to hit on me while I'm buying face wash. I never went in K-Mart again. I should have worn my headphones in K-Mart.0 -
It depends. Many women are rather inapproachable at the gym and make it obvious they don't want to be bothered. All my friends tell me since I work at a gym that I shouldn't have any trouble meeting fit girls, but I do because of the above reason. So, trying to date a girl from a gym, or even initiate a conversation with one, is quite a rare opportunity. It's too bad because I love fit women.
You find fit women who work out at other gyms.0 -

From a guy's perspective...
That wasn't a one time conversation. But, if you need help thinking of something to say, might I suggest that since you're in a gym, you talk about working out?
If this guy lifts weight, have him help you with it.0 -
..i like to talk, so if someone starts talking to me while im on the treadmill or somethin that's fine.
But, when im lifting i try to concentrate on that so i dont get hurt.. But, I've carried a conversations lifting dumbells before..
I guess I'm weird.0 -
When I'm just lifting, I wear earbuds and a leave me the **** alone face. Now that I'm doing crossfit, there's more of a class mentality and before and after I chat with boys... Some flirting but no real hitting on. Unfortunately...0

I haven't been hit on at the gym...yet...I have noticed guys looking at me lately. I see that as a total bonus to going to the gym. Before I started losing weight etc, guys never noticed me. It feels good to be noticed. I suppose I may seem inapproachable but it's more because I honestly don't really know how to be approachable to guys.0
-
anywhere is a possibility. Bring your smile and your best attitude everywhere you go -- you will attract positivity and probably some guys too0
-
I just don't get hit on...not only at the gym0
-
I don't get hit on at the gym. Probably because I'm a sweaty mess. What can I say, I get my *kitten* done!0
-
It can be, but don't count on it. I met my signifcant other through the gym I used to work at, but it's not exactly the greatest place. The gym is a place to work out and improve yourself...I personally hate getting hit on at the gym. It happened tonight in the middle of my abs circuit. A personal trainer decided that was a good time to introduce himself to me and tell me how amazing I look and he admires my commitment....he kept staring at my boobs. Horrible. Be you, be happy, and in time the right person will come around. Have a little faith0

i just love this thread0

I am there to workout and train, so I never flirt or converse at the gym.
Same.
I might flirt with a gym employee. But not actual gym go-fers.0 -
well at our gym there is only our fatass coach nd team mates -_-0

Compliments always work.0 -
Not for me. The gym is all about putting in work. Save the flirting for happy hour.0
-
I am pretty dense when it comes to the opposite sex but to my knowledge I have never been hit on at the gym. I don't either.0
-
I'm aways happy to have a brief chat with anyone I the gym, but I have to say when I see the really obvious c*ck trawlers I think it's really hilarious. The gym isn't a nightclub.0
-
I'd say if you are looking to pick up the front desk people or sales team then maybe.. other wise, no.
The one thing I hate the most is when I'm working out, and I have people staring at me or tying to converse with me... Clearly, I am not interested and want you to go away... so please do!0 -
If I was "looking" - I'd def consider dating guys from the gym. But only if they used good form and lifted heavy weights. None of that cardio bunny crap thankyaverymuch. hah0
-
I go to gym only to work out, don't want to get distracted by chicks.0
-
I work out in a HS school gym. so, no. That would be bad.0
