Kind of a funny NSV :)

I was talking with one of my co-workers the other day when in mid sentence he stopped, cocked his head & said " You're losing weight aren't you?" I smiled & said yes, I've lost some, thanks.

His next question caught me completely off guard though - He asks "You're not sick are you?" & I couldn't help but laugh

sounds like he just wanted to make sure he hadn't accidently offend you. Had it happen to me -- turns out the co-worker had a thyroid problem, and the weight loss was a side effect (I felt like an idiot for having said anything - so now I make a point to NEVER comment on physical appearance. Nice jacket, or that colour suits you -- that's as far as I'll go).

About 5 minutes ago, I had the same conversation with my work supervisor!

She actually told me to meet her outside so we could "discuss something."
    That something was my weight.

How that relates to work, I have no idea.

Well thats exciting! And yeah i would say they were making sure that they didn't offend you in case it was a symptom of a sickness.

    congrats!

I've worked with him for nearly 10 years so I absolutely knew that he meant no offense by it - it just struck me as funny at the time

But yeah, I can see how it would suck to say to someone "Wow, you look great! Lost a couple of lbs?" only to find out it's due to the chemo treatments they're going through :embarassed:

It is great motivation when someone walks up and comments. I was at a family Christmas party last week and my Wife's Aunt, who I have not seen since last Christmas actually said to me "you better stop losing weight because you are starting to look sickly". I told her that I had 10 more pounds to go and she said "no way, you will look like you are dying" I said thanks and continued to eat my celery with a smile on my face
