I'd always heard about taking the "Christ" out of Christmas too, but I like your thinking *much* better!
However, I am lazy, so I have been using "C-mas" - to keep the "Christ" in it. Just like I have lazy friends who will occasionally call me "G" or "Gabby"
    Ijs...

Usin X instead of C would actually be the better way, since the X, since 2,000 years ago, actually does MEAN "Christ." "C" does not.

My late parents would sing this song every year at church.

    Don't wish me Merry Xmas
    Or Happy Holiday,
    Put Christ back into Christmas
    On this blessed holy day

    Put Christ back into Christmas
    Like on that silent night
    When the star of Bethlehem
Gave way to new born life.

Let all the world give glory
To Christ the King of Kings
    Let children hear the story
    Of love our Saviour brings.

Its for those of us that want to celebrate the season and the holiday the way it was before they put Jesus Christ in it - but still call it what everyone else in the modern world calls it. Plus its quicker to write. Its just easier for non-religious people :)

Seriously, Christ was not the "reason for the season" in the beginning.

But saying Xmas is not a war on Christ either.

I wish people would put as much effort into positive things as they do spreading false things.

Most people like to use Xmas when they don't believe in Christ. It's just to take the Christ out of Christmas...sad really. As for the name with the X I don't see that a lot.

You don't know much about the history of the religion in which you believe, do you?

Most of them don't... It's pretty ironic.
