Pre-Workout Snack

Alright so I'm going to have a pre-workout snack as usual. But my only choices are to have it almost two hours beforehand or about 10 minutes beforehand. Which would be better?

Wellll I think it depends on the work out you're going to do! If it's long cardio, I would go for some slow-burning carbs like oatmeal or sweet potato two hours before... and A LOT of it so you're not hungry :) But if It's just lifting, I don't think there would be a problem with eating something small 10 minutes before :)
  • Also is coffee before hand (black) a good or bad idea?
  • Im doing about and hour and a half of high intensity agiilty combined with a little bit of weight training

Coffee always makes my stomach hurt when I drink it before a workout... but that's just me. I think it's the acidity. I wouldn't... but I don't really know if it effects everyone the way it effects me. I would probably eat a big pre-workout meal before hand so it has time to digest. That sounds like a good work out :)

I read a study that people who drink coffee right before a workout have more inclination to keep going than those who dont. I think it is the caffeine that kicks in somewhat delayed. But it is dehydrating, so you should definitely have extra water

I say do what works for you, if I eat anything less than an hour before my workouts I feel really sick. I do take a pre-workout about 30 mins before, so Im sure coffee would do the exact same, just listen to your body
  • Thank you everyone :D great ideas I don't know why I didn't think of doing both sounds like a plan to me :)
